Early Review: "Sharknado 2" Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple

By Jamie Ruby

Sharknado 2Last summer Syfy premiered Sharknado and it quickly became a cult sensation, which no one predicted. Tomorrow Syfy premieres the highly anticipated next chapter: Sharknado 2: The Second One, which is sure to cause another social media frenzy. To prepare there have already been more than 45 products available across the country. NBC Universal has been involved with multiple tie-ins, including the book How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters, published by Three Rivers Press, a Sharknado: Go Shark Yourself app, and even Sharknado: The Video Game from Other Ocean and Majesco Entertainment Company. Fans can be ready and decked out in their Sharknado gear for the premiere.

Sharknado 2The sequel was filmed and takes place in New York City where Sharknados wreak havoc on the people of the city as well as iconic New York sites. Anthony C. Ferrante returns as director and Thunder Levin as writer. Stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid also reprise their roles in the second installment. Joining them are co-stars Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath, as well as numerous guest stars from Kelly Osbourne to Andy Dick.

Sharknado 2The second film was even better than the first. The story was funny, yet also took itself serious at times, which is what often makes the crazy situations funnier. The cast meshed well together, and I greatly enjoyed all the familiar faces popping up.

Sharknado 2: The Second One takes what everyone loved from the original and amps it up. Filled with the campy fun and a multitude of humorous surprising cameos, the sequel is sure to raise another media storm. Bring your chainsaw and tune in tomorrow night on Syfy for the only show where jumping the shark is a good thing.
