"Burn Notice" Premieres Tonight on USA

Burn NoticeUSA Network's smash hit spy drama Burn Notice returns tonight for its sixth season. The series follows formerly burned spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), who now, no longer black-listed, has been working with the CIA, on special projects, including heading a CIA team. He is joined by his crew, including his on-again / off-again girlfriend, Fiona Glannane (Gabrielle Anwar), ex-navy seal Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell), and burned spy, Jesse Porter (Coby Bell). Led by Michael, the group uses their combined intelligence and skills to outwit the enemies, using whatever is at their disposal, such as creating fake identities for new personas, making bombs, tactical maneuvers, and macgyvering whatever they find into something useful, all for the greater good.

Burn NoticeThe season begins where the last left off. Michael was being blackmailed into working for Anson Fullerton (Jere Burns), with no hope of an end. Fiona, the love of Michael's life, had set off one targeted explosive during one of their jobs and Anson set off a bomb in the lobby of the building, killing innocent people, making it look like Fi is a terrorist. Fiona, against Michael's wishes, has turned herself into the FBI on these terrorism charges, so that he can stop working for Anson which would cause him not only to betray his country, but to burn other spies.

Michael must find a way to catch Anson, rescue Fiona, and clear her name.

The high-energy show is my favorite on USA, and the premiere did not disappoint. The episode had all the things that make the show great – Michael using his wits to do what needs done and great character moments as he tries to figure out what that is and how he can save Fi. All the while there are fast adrenaline-pumping moments with explosions, gun fights, and of course crazy tactical moves.

There were quite a few great moments during the episode – I really felt for Michael and his pain over Fiona, not being able to see that maybe she was right. There were also some wonderful moments of both wisdom and levity from Sam, and even some fantastic scenes with Michael's mother, Madeline (Sharon Gless), who's learning some great moves of her own.

All in all a great episode of Burn Notice for fans to enjoy, yet still is a excellent starting place if you haven't seen the series before.
