Last year's new law drama, Suits, returns to USA Network tonight for its second season. The original series follows Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), law partner at Pearson Hardman, a top Manhattan corporate law firm, and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), the not-technically legal associate that he hired. Harvey felt Mike, who knows the law inside and out, was valuable to the firm, regardless of the fact that he did not attend law school.

The two kept Mike's background a secret from the firm's partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), but at the end of last season, Mike's angry ex-best friend planned to reveal the truth to her.

This season will deal with that issue and more, as another problem arises at the firm. Daniel Hardman (David Costabile), previous partner of the firm may return, and that can only mean trouble. They'll have to do what it takes to try to stop his return.

I'm not usually a big fan of law dramas. That being said, this series brings something unique to the table. Mike is a great lawyer, but he always has the truth looming over his head, which could end his career, and possibly Harvey's, at the drop of a hat. As with the other USA series, the overall circumstances of the show are not always the most important – Suits is at heart is about the characters, which are very likeable. I quite enjoy Macht and Adams together, as actors they play well off of each other – Harvey with his no-nonsense attitude and tightly-held emotions and Mike who has his own way and is often more about doing the right thing than winning the case. I also enjoy Gina Torres on the show. I've been a fan of hers since Firefly, and she plays Jessica really well, with her pretentious attitude and well put together flair. She seems great, but I think even I would be nervous working for her!

It was interesting to see the plot unfold in the episode and the characters scrambling to figure out the right moves, and watching their sometimes ruthless tricks to get what they want. They may be good at heart, but they are still lawyers.

I also really enjoyed Harvey sticking his neck out for Mike, this time, more out in the open. He knows Mike is an asset to the firm.

Another nice thing about the show is you can jump in any time. There are some serialized elements to the show, but you can also enjoy it without having seen all of it, so it can bring in new fans.

Whether you've seen Suits before or not, tonight's premiere is definitely worth a watch.
