SYFY’S HIT SERIES HAVEN BEGINS PRODUCTION ON SEASON 4 IN HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA
EUREKA’S COLIN FERGUSON JOINS CAST
NEW YORK, NY – May 8, 2013 – Startling new mysteries and secrets are in the works as Syfy’s hit series Haven goes into production today, May 8, on an all-new 13 episode Season 4 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
When Haven premieres this October, Colin Ferguson (Eureka) returns to Syfy playing William, a handsome mysterious stranger, whose secret agenda leads him to Audrey (Emily Rose).
Season 4 of Haven picks up six months after the devastating events of the Season 3 cliffhanger in which the town was pummeled by a violent meteor storm. Audrey and Duke (Eric Balfour) vanished into thin air leaving an injured Nathan (Lucas Bryant) marooned in Haven.

End of the World, Syfy's newest original disaster movie, premieres tomorrow night. The film is somewhat different from the usual fair. Many of the Syfy Saturday originals are campy, whether they are meant to be or not, but this one is different. It's the ultimate disaster movie to end all disaster movies, almost a spoof of the genre, if you will. And it's really funny, paying homage to science fiction and disaster movie fans everywhere. The film revolves around two such fan boys, played by Neil Grayston and Greg Grunberg, who work at a video store. Their world is turned upside down when their small town becomes a disaster of its own, with plasma rain that causes power surges and reduces people to ash.

By Jamie Ruby End of the World, the newest Syfy original movie, premieres tomorrow night. The movie follows two video store employees ( Eureka's Neil Grayston and Heroes' Greg Grunberg) as they must use their disaster movie knowledge to save the world from destruction. They also get help from a mental patient, played by Brad Dourif, who's known to most as the voice of Chucky from the Child's Play franchise. The three actors, along with executive producer Lisa Hansen, talked to the digital media recently to discuss the film, which airs tomorrow night on Syfy. Grayston told SciFi Vision that his favorite part had to do with the actual process. "Sort of my favorite part was the whole filming process, because it was a really sort of open and free and it almost felt a little bit like gorilla film making at certain times because we were just sort of fighting for the light all day. "But we also just got to play around especially a lot of the scenes involved just me and Greg just sort of bantering back and forth and we got to kind of explore that a lot and very quickly. So it was a really fun shoot just in general and it kind of all blurs together now that I think of it because it was so open and free, but it was definitely one of my favorite experiences filming something."

It almost goes without saying, but this was definitely the most difficult "Eureka" review I've ever had to write. My deep fondness for the show demands a very careful approach to writing the review for what is very likely the very last "Eureka" episode that will ever air. I've spent many lines in the past few reviews lamenting the weaknesses of the fifth season and the unfortunate replacement of the final, six-episode season with only a single episode. But "Eureka" is now over. Was the finale a fitting and satisfying send-off to this beloved sci-fi show?

By Jamie Ruby Eureka, which is currently Syfy's longest-running scripted series, is a story about a town full of geniuses that conduct top-secret research for the government. Anything and everything can happen in the Pacific Northwest town. Unfortunately the much loved show comes to an end tonight with the series finale. I thought the end was fitting for the show - it tied up some loose ends and put the characters on a path that I think fans will be happy with. The episode also boasted some great guest stars (including Mythbusters' Grant Imahara!) with all your favorites returning for a last good bye.

It's a bit odd to think that this was intended to be the season 5 finale for "Eureka". If this were an episode from somewhere in the middle of the season, I might have thought of it as being one of the more memorable ones of the season. But as a culmination of the "Matrix" storyline, I found it sorely lacking. And it would have been absolutely inexcusable for this to be the series finale. It sure doesn't help that certain threads are left dangling that were presumably meant to be resolved in a further six episodes. The series finale sure is going to have its work cut out for it.

Well, for better or for worse, "Eureka" has only four more episodes to go in its final season; and that includes the episode that SyFy ordered at the last minute to make up for cancelling (or "not ordering") the shortened sixth season. The fifth season should not have to bear the burden of being the last, and it's hard to imagine how a single episode could satisfyingly end a story that was originally planned to span six episodes. But this is what we're stuck with, so a certain amount of disappointment with this season was inevitable.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised that it's taken "Eureka" this long to do an episode like this. Carter's role in the show has always been that of the average joe; the guy that the audience can most readily relate to. So considering the show's usual subject matter, it's only natural to imagine a scenario in which Carter's intelligence is artificially boosted. I don't know why I never thought of the idea before, because it's an old staple of the genre, but it makes perfect sense for "Eureka". And the timing couldn't really be better.

Despite the fact that this episode marks the marriage of Carter and Allison, as well as the reveal that Holly is still dying, this felt like something of a step back from the longer-term story arcs. "In Too Deep" is mostly about exploring Carter and Allison's relationship issues against the backdrop of another Eureka disaster. I was a bit disappointed to see Allison devolving into such childish behavior. I almost audibly sighed when the old issues of recent episodes started to crop up again, albeit only from Allison's mouth. In fairness, I suppose there's an argument to be made that Allison isn't totally off the mark, given what we've learned about the Matrix, and the fact that she was in there a good deal longer than Carter was. But I was really hoping that we were past this.
