Exclusive Interview with Peter Shinkoda of Falling SkiesInterview by Jamie RubyWritten by Jamie Ruby Recently Falling Skies came to an end for the summer. Many fans were sad to see Dai, played by Peter Shinkoda, die in the season finale. I recently talked to the actor in an exclusive interview for SciFi Vision specifically about filming the death sequence and the end of his journey on the series. Shinkoda did not know until the last minute that this season would be his last. "Honestly it was very late in the game. I could have learned earlier, I wish I could have learned earlier, as an actor. But the thing was, the situation didn't lend itself to that.

I'm just going to come out and say it directly: I was very frustrated with this season finale of "Falling Skies". It had a lot of logic holes and plotting that didn't fit with the episodes that were shown before. After watching the episode, I had a myriad of questions running through my mind, which isn't a good thing if anyone was looking for a positive impression of the episode.

Christiane Elin recently attended San Diego Comic-Con 2012 for SciFi Vision and got some great exclusive photos in the press rooms. These include ones for Syfy's Warehouse 13 and Alphas, and TNT's Falling Skies, with more to come. As they are added, I will update this article. They are all available in the Comic-Con Press Gallery.

When I saw that this episode was titled, "Death March," I was a bit puzzled. Would a show known for taking it safe with nearly every plot element in its arsenal really pile on the death at this point? The survivors are on their way to salvation in Charleston and so maybe that could happen. Then, I watched the episode. This was not a death march the way I had imagined it in my mind. In fact, no one in the episode dies! So I had to ask the question of whether the title was ironic in some way during the viewing of the episode.

For all of its tries at showing the epic scope of its stories, "Falling Skies" seems to have trouble with the minor details. I would normally be one to ignore these kinds of things, but they add up in the face of an episode that keeps the skitters, mechs, and alien overlords completely off-screen (for obvious budgetary concerns), thus limiting the threats our heroes must face. An amazing amount of coincidental events pop up yet again in this episode, with the sudden reappearances of two past characters who were thought to be out of the big picture.

Exclusive Interview with Connor Jessup of Falling SkiesInterview by Jamie RubyWritten by Jamie Ruby Falling Skies, which recently entered its second season on TNT, focuses on the lives of the survivors of an alien invasion, the Second Mass resistance group, made up of both soldiers and civilians. They are led by Captain Weaver (Will Patton) and unlikely leader Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), former college professor and father of three. Last season the aliens kidnapped many of the children and "harnessed" them, putting them under their control. Some of the children who were harnessed, including Mason's middle son, Ben, were rescued. The harness, however, could not be completely removed from Ben's spine. The actor who plays Ben Mason, Connor Jessup, recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision about season two in an exclusive interview.

There is a reason why I prefer shows that take chances. It's not exactly that I'm going to see something different, but it's more an indication that the writers have free reign over what the characters are doing and the choices they make. They should not be afraid to take chances with their story. This relates to "Falling Skies", particularly this episode, because I've noticed that I can pretty much predict exactly where everything is going to go. What everyone is going to do.

Well, my concerns that the 2nd Massachusetts was going to stay at the airport and the plot stagnating while at that location were short-lived. The first season had the survivors holed up in the school for some time and that's really what happened to a large degree. Keeping the camp mobile is the best thing that can be done for this show, despite how expensive it must be to constantly change sets.
