In anticipation of tonight’s season finale of Grimm, we caught up with actress Bree Turner, who plays Wesen pharmacist Rosalee Calvert. Turner promised us we’ll be blown away by the episode. “I don't know what more they could have put in this script,” she said. “I mean everyone, every storyline gets blown out and exposed, resolved, challenged. And then the level of production value in this finale, it's like feature film quality stuff in terms of effects and story and set and environment.” Over the second season, we’ve seen Rosalee come into her own and master the art of mixing potions. In the last few weeks she has become one of Nick’s greatest assets. “I always likened Rosalee as someone who was the most talented, with the biggest gifts,” Turner explained, “but the one that was the most insecure and lost with it all. And now that we're at the end of the second season I think it's been really fun to throw a lot of that away now and just be confident and own my power now. “As you'll see Tuesday, I become much more the authority in the issue at hand. There's no more bumbling through this now. Now I am one of the most powerful apothecaries in the Wesen community.”

The late-season slump curse for Grimm continues. While the drop in overall quality and momentum isn’t nearly as severe as it was for the first season, there seems to be a distinct lack of progression here at the end. The awkward manner in which the mythology elements were crammed into this episode shocks me, when there was plenty of opportunity to replace the surprisingly boring Wesen situation with something of more importance.

By Karen Moul Grimm has moved to a new timeslot behind The Voice, and star David Giuntoli is thrilled. While discussing the move with journalists, he gave us a brief a preview tonight’s episode. “We're going to be seeing something very paranormal,” he explained, “I want to say almost X-Files-y that is not a standard Grimm’s fairytale and almost like we're dealing what people on the Earth think are aliens.” Meanwhile, Nick is still living in Monroe’s attic, but that doesn’t stop the Blutbad’s relationship with Rosalee from heating up. “I believe in this next episode there's a very funny scene where I perhaps walk in on a moment I shouldn't have walked in on,” shared Giuntoli. With tonight’s episode, Grimm begins a four-episode run to the season finale, and Giuntoli was feeling very talkative about what’s in store for the characters. “You could definitely see a Nick and Juliette reunion,” he hinted. No surprise there, although he went on to suggest the couple could face a few more obstacles. “I'm sure that in Grimm fashion they'll find some way to make that as difficult as humanly possible."

Having Rosalee back in the swing of things is a joy to behold, as Bree Turner is just plain gorgeous, and the chemistry between Rosalee and Monroe is one of the best things about Grimm. Sadly, this episode doesn’t quite pull out all the stops, as it continues the recent tendency to deliver a tired trope as a “A” plot, so the ongoing subplots have a little more time to advance.

Whenever I see any kind of mainstream show, even a genre one, take on gamer culture in any significant way, especially MMORPGs, I get nervous. Even shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation couldn’t seem to wrap their brains around the notion that gamers aren’t just young, slovenly wrecks living in their parents’ basement. A lot of gamers these days are the folks sitting in the office. Most of the population under the age of 45 grew up with some kind of video gaming as a perfectly normal part of life.

After a few episodes that had to delve deeply into the season arc, it makes sense that the writers would turn to something a little more stand-alone in nature. But in keeping with the tighter storytelling forGrimm this season, it’s not quite so simple as that. What begins as a “monster of the week” tale leads into some interesting developments for Nick and Team Grimm.

As anticipated, this episode of Grimm brings the dangerous obsession between Renard and Juliette to an end. But everything has lingering side effects in the Wesen world, it appears, because no one is getting out of this situation cleanly. Nick can’t wrap his brain around the notion that Renard wasn’t controlling his own emotions and making his own choices, and Juliette is living through her own personal version ofPoltergeist.

By Karen Moul In tonight’s all-new episode of Grimm, a group of Wesen criminals commit a string of robberies fully morphed in front of humans, a serious violation of the Wesen code. Silas Weir Mitchell, who costars as everyone’s favorite Blutbad Monroe, shared some details with us. “You're really not supposed to show your inner self in order to take advantage of the normal people in the world,” he explained. “It's immoral and it also could tear at the fabric of reality for people.” He added that “it's a big no-no because it exposes too much of the way the world really works. You have to behave a certain way. And if you go outside of that, you are in big trouble.” Monroe is present during one of the crimes. “The bank robbery was intense,” Weir told us. “They were firing off full loads with automatic weapons. And it was loud and it was scary. “I hope that comes across on screen because it was pretty cool to be there.”

Grimm has been off the air far longer than it should have been, caught up in the latest inexplicable programming decisions by NBC. Armchair quarterbacking of network programmers is hardly a new phenomenon, but the claims from network and industry types that the general audience doesn’t understand the complexities of scheduling are moot when the evidence is right there for all to see!
