Angie MillerMany fans were surprised when contestant Angie Miller was voted off of American Idol last week. The Massachusetts native was unique in that she sang many of her of own original songs. The singer talked to reporters last week about coming in third on Idol and her plans for the future.

The singer talked to SciFi Vision about the best advice she received while on Idol. "I think what really sticks out to me when I think of everything that they've said is that they didn't just appreciate like my voice or just me, whatever, but they appreciated just the artistry and the songwriting and knowing that I know who I am as a person. I love how they really appreciated that and they stressed that [it] was important to never lose your songwriting and who you are and what you stand for. I think that's what stuck out with me the most. It wasn't really a critique but it was just them saying, "Thank you for being that way, keep being that way," and that meant the world to me."

Miller also told the site that she would love to get to perform an original song on tour, but doesn't know if she will be able to. "I don't know but I really, really hope so because that would be amazing."

Cat DeeleySo You Think You Can Dance returns for its tenth season with a special two-night premiere on Tuesday, May 14th and Wednesday, May 15th. Host Cat Deeley spoke with SciFiVision in a conference call about the new season.

Cat shared that this year, "people are getting very, very creative with the different styles and their choices of music. They know now that we are in season ten, so we've seen people run up walls and do back flips. We've seen, you know, ten pirouettes all in one go, so they've got to do something that's a little big unique and normally that involves doing something with the music, so say putting a hip-hop routine to a classical piece of music or giving the dance a story. It's about their creativity."

Not only has Cat seen that contestants are becoming more creative but she has seen more newbies try out for the show. Cat went on to say, "It means that within the dance community, we're still a relevant show. We're still a relevant part of their career process, which I think is brilliant."

Check out season ten of So You Think You Can Dance Tuesday Nights on Fox.

Amber HolcombThe final four became the final three after Amber Holcomb received the least amount of votes (from two weeks) on this week's American Idol results show. After a very emotional night, Amber gave her final performance as an American Idol contestant.

SciFi Vision spoke with Amber the day after the results show. On the call, Amber was in good spirits about her future after her Idol journey. For many American Idol viewers, the same question lingered about why she was so emotional on result's night. Amber took us through what was going inside her head after the results were read. Amber said when she watched the package video it really got to her. After the video she saw her dad crying and then it was time for her to sing. When singing she was thinking about going home. It was a lot to take in at that moment for the 18-year old.

The judges unanimously believe that Amber should easily have a career after her time at American Idol. Amber said that, although she didn't win, she finds that she will be able to take this time to focus on herself. Amber is looking forward to what's next and would like to have you see her in all forms of media within the next 10 years.

The singer already has an idea what her album will look like. "I think my future album will definitely be more on the traditional side of country. I definitely think that there’s room for some more rootsy country music to come back into play. A lot of the females right now are doing more of the pop country thing."

Burnell TaylorLast week America said good bye to Burnell Taylor. The 19 year old from New Orleans recently talked to the digital media about his departure from American Idol and his future.

Taylor told SciFi Vision about his favorite part of being on Idol and how it motivated him. "My favorite part of the season was the fact that it allowed me to grow. It really allowed me to lose the weight. There are things that I never would have done if I wasn't on the show. The show motivated me to do a lot of things, and I'm thankful and blessed that I was even in this position."

The singer also talked to the site about some of his challenges on Idol. "Well, of course, the themes are very challenging. I guess I have to say that, because some of the times we don't know all the songs. We always want to pick the best songs, so that could be a challenge. It's a good challenge, too. It's a good challenge."

Taylor also discussed what kind of album he plans to make. "[For] my album, I want to make captivating music, period...because there's only a few that you can play from the beginning to the end without any skips. I just want to be a storyteller and I want to be as personal as I can get. You know, just be honest, that's what the industry, I feel, is missing today. I want to create that link for other people to feel comfortable with..."

Devin Velez on His "American Idol" Journey, and the Future PDF Print Email

Devin VelezLast week Devin Velez was the contestant voted off of Fox's American Idol. Velez, who hails from Chicago, recently talked to the media about his journey and what's to come.

Velez told the media that he received good advice from the judges and Jimmy Iovine during his time on Idol. "[The best advice was] from all of them, which is stay true to yourself. I think that I've been pretty consistent in doing that on the show. I was the same before the show, I was the same on the show, and I'm going to be the same after the show. Idol hasn't changed me. I have grown as a person, but I haven't changed who I am. I think that America fell in love with me for a reason, and I don't want to change, not just to let them down, but also not to let myself down. I think that you should be proud of who you are and the decisions that you've made as a person, and so I can say that I have no regrets on the show and if I could go back and change anything I wouldn't."

The singer was not surprised to be leaving the show, and is grateful for the experience. "Nothing of course was definite until the moment of, but even the night prior I was getting this feeling and I was like, "All right, now I think I'm going home." And I wasn't sad about it; I'm still not sad about it now, and it's weird because people are expecting me to be all mopey and crying, but my thing is, making top ten was winning for me, everything after that was falling action. It's a great accomplishment. Some of the contestants on the show that are still left, they've auditioned two or three times and this is my first time auditioning and I've made it this far. It's a great accomplishment and I'm so blessed to have made it this far."

Nicki MinajFox's American Idol is currently midway through its twelfth season. This time the competition has new judges in addition to veteran judge Randy Jackson. One of these new judges is singing sensation Nicki Minaj, who recently talked to the digital media about her time so far on Idol.

Minaj admits to being nervous at the beginning. "I didn't know what to expect going in to the show. I was so nervous. I had a lot of anxiety. I felt like, "Okay. I know everybody's just going to hate me. Oh well." There were moments in the audition process that I would say to the producers, "I can't do this anymore because if everyone is going to give good critic and I'm going to be the only one being honest then America is going to hate me. I'm going to be seen as mean." And the producers said, "Nicki, trust me America is going to appreciate the honesty" and that's all I had to go on.

"I had Mike Darnell, Trish and Nigel telling me that, you know, take their word and that's what I did. I took their word, and I came in every day and I was myself. What people see me doing with the constants is exactly what I do with my fans. Well, I don't critic my fans, but I definitely play with my fans and speak to my fans as if they're my friends, and that's why I started giving the contestants nicknames.

"When I'm laughing on the show I'm genuinely laughing. I can't come up there and pretend. I just can't do it. I can't be someone I'm not. I can't sit there with a phony smile on my face; I can't do it. I'm happy that people are responding well to it. I mean if I'm polarizing I'm polarizing. I don't know, but I definitely didn't have a preconceived notion of who I was going to be on that panel."

Paul JolleyThe latest contestant voted off of American Idol was Tennessee native Paul Jolley, who has described his style as a blend of country and pop. He recently talked to the digial media about his journey on Idol, as well as his plans for the future.

Jolley told SciFi Vision that his plans for his music haven't changed. "I still want to stick with the country/pop lane. I don't want to change what I feel in my heart that my calling is and what I need to be doing."

He also talked about auditioning for the show. "I had auditioned for American Idol a few times before and I never made it past the cattle call. I got to the point where I was like, well, maybe this TV show is just not for me and I was okay with it. Then this year I opened up for an artist named Billy Dean and—an amazing guy by the way—and so I was home the next week and one of the ladies that got me to do the show called me up and she said, American Idol is coming here next week, but it's not released. We want you to come and represent our town and come audition. I said, I'm off work that day, it works out, I'll be there.

"At that time, I didn't even know Keith Urban was going to be a judge and he's always been my idol ever since I was a little kid. It's funny how things just always play out in the favor of if you want something to happen and you believe enough that things will happen."
