Exclusive: The Walking Dead: World Beyond's Anna Khaja Takes a Stand Against the CRM

***The following interview contains spoilers for 2.08***

Anna KhajaRecently on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Indira, played by Anna Khaja, lost her son, Dev (Abubakr Ali), when he was killed by CRM soldiers, which led to them attacking the community at the Perimeter in tonight’s episode of the series. According to Khaja, who talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview, Indira realizes now that she has to choose a side. “[T]he CRM are not people to gently be dealt with,” said the actress. “They're not an organization to be accepted in any way. Now, she's out for revenge. Now she's going to do what's right. It's what Dev would have wanted. It's what her people stand for. It's what she's always said she stands for. So, that's it. Now, she has nothing to lose. She already lost the greatest thing in her life. Now, she's all in. She has to protect her people, do whatever it takes to protect them.”

According to Khaja, Indira is ready to fight now. “She's ready to join forces with the kids, and everyone's going to come together, but we just don't know how.”

She also said that although Indira is worried for her people, she can’t help but be eager to move against them. “I think that she doesn't like being under the CRM’s thumb, and that she wants to see them go. She wishes someone would take them down. So, I think she's in a position of secret excitement, but really, really scared.”

Exclusive: The Walking Dead World Beyond’s Jelani Alladin on How This Character’s Death “Shakes Will to his Core”

***The folowing interview contains spoilers for 2.08***

Jelani AlladinIn this week’s episode of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, “Returning Point”, Will is deeply affected by the death of Indira (Anna Khaja)’s son, a young man who he didn't know very well. Why was Will so moved? Actor Jelani Alladin thinks that for Will, Dev (Abubakr Ali)’s death “symbolizes the death of humanity of [the CRM], that they simply no longer care. No matter who it is or who you are,” Alladin told Scifi Vision, “they will kill you if they feel like you’re a threat, and that shakes Will to his core.”

For the actor, Dev’s death also raises real-life issues. “On top of that, you add another person of color being taken out of this world. I think that is the connection that I personally was invested in. How do you go to a mother and tell them that their son has just been shot, killed? And reflecting all the things that we went through in the year of 2020, bringing all of that into the mix? I was like, ‘The police, the threat, this huge organization just innocently took your son, and I couldn't do anything about that. I don't even know how to begin to apologize to you or have the words to say I'm sorry.’”

In our interview, Alladin discussed how Will’s feelings prompt him to initiate a shootout with the CRM. In The Walking Dead universe, selfless risks don’t always end well - especially when they are out of character. And Alladin thinks “it is wildly not in Will’s character to actually take that risk.

Doctor Who: Flux - Village of the Angels - 13.04 - 11/21/21 - Review & Recap

***The following review and contains spoilers for 13.04 as well as the "next time" trailer for 13.05, so please watching them before reading.***

Doctor Who: FluxI was impressed with tonight’s episode of Doctor Who, titled “Village of the Angels.” Weeping Angels are one of my favorite villains/creatures of the series, but I was afraid that the episode would be ruined by having everything else jammed in it like last week. I was happy to be wrong.

Unlike the first three episodes, especially last week’s, the story was much more linear (as linear as it can be in a time travel show). There was one main story thread that was split by the characters being split up, and then there was the side story with Bel (Thaddea Graham). Whereas I would have preferred the action not stop to make room for Bel and Vinder (Jacob Anderson), it didn’t feel squashed in like last time. The episode was much more cohesive as a whole, and aside from Azure (Rochenda Sandall), there weren’t other alien creatures, and it didn’t feel like random things were happening.

The main storyline with the Angels and our characters trying to escape felt like a classic (new series) episode. I loved how they brought in the idea of an image of an Angel being an Angel, because we’ve seen that before, and they took the idea to the extreme as Claire (Annabel Scholey) was seen transforming partially in moments. I also think the writers did a really good job of explaining what Angels were to any potential new viewers, and it gave everyone else a quick reminder of the basics, without making the episode feel like there was too much exposition.

Book Review: The Art of AMC's The Walking Dead Universe

The Art of The Walking Dead UniverseThe Art of AMC's The Walking Dead Universe was recently released everywhere books are sold. The 240-page hardcover, which comes from AMC Networks, Skybound Entertainment, and Image Comics, covers all three series in The Walking Dead Universe. The book gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the three series through concept sketches and other art and illustrations, storyboards, photographs, and more. It includes an introduction by Chief Content Officer of TWD Universe Scott M. Gimple as well as other fun facts.

The book is full of so much to look at and presented beautifully. Each part also provides some interesting insight into the making of the series in general or whatever that specific page is about. It’s full of tons of content that fans of the series will love.

The book is full of positives. I only really found there to be two negatives to the book. The first is that I wish the book were divided up in a different way, preferably by series. All three shows are together, and I couldn’t really find a rhyme or reason to how they were ordered.

Blu-ray Review: Snowpiercer: The Complete Second Season is Dark, Gritty, & Not to be Missed

***Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free blu-ray copy to review. Opinions are my own.***

SnowpiercerBased on the graphic novel series and film from Bong Joon Ho, Snowpiercer is set in the not-so-distant future after the world has been frozen over. What’s left of humanity is aboard the perpetually moving train that is over ten miles long and, originally, over one thousand cars.

At the end of the first season of the series, the train passengers became aware that the train was not being led by Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) as they had thought, but rather by Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly), pretending to give orders as the man. There was a revolt, and the Tailies took over with Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) emerging as the leader of the merged classes.

However, when a rival train called Big Alice appears and attaches to the tail of Snowpiercer and it’s revealed that Mr. Wilford is, in fact, alive, Melanie risks going outside the train in the deadly weather to stop him from taking Snowpiercer. It’s also revealed to those on the train that Melanie’s daughter, Alex (Rowan Blanchard), who she thought dead, is Wilford’s protege.

Season two hits the ground running, as Melanie remains outside, unaware that her daughter is alive. Meanwhile, Wilford threatens to uncouple from Snowpiercer and leave everyone to die if his demands are not met. Now, essentially one train, with Big Alice having parts Snowpiercer needs, and Snowpiercer having fresh food needed by Big Alice’s crew, both sides will have to work together to stay alive, but neither Wilford nor Layton is willing to bend.

Exclusive Video Interview: Tatiana Maslany Talks Orphan Black: The Next Chapter

Tatiana MaslanyBBC America’s cult hit Orphan Black, which followed the intertwined lives of genetically identical human clones, all played by actress Tatiana Maslany, ended its original run in 2017. The story, however, continued in 2019 when the first season of an all-new audio series, Orphan Black: The Next Chapter, was realeased, with Maslany not only voicing all the clones, but narrating the entire story.

Realm Media recently released the premiere episode of season two, this time with the actress being joined by fellow actors Kristian Bruun, Evelyn Brochu, and Jordan Gavaris who reprised their original roles. The performers, who met up for a Zoom panel last Thursday, however, each did their parts on their own.

Although it’s a bit different using just her voice to play the clones in the book series and she’s acting by herself, according to Maslany, who recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive video interview, it still just relies on your imagination. “[It’s] a very creative space to play in,” said the actress, “even though it isn't necessarily back and forth, you're sort of generating your own thing.”

Maslany said that the character of Alison was the easiest to access after so long and that Sarah is “always kind of there,” but she also enjoys getting to play new clones. “[I]t was really fun to get to explore these new characters like Blythe and Vivi…it's fun to play these new roles and see kind of what new characterizations I can bring to them, or mannerisms, even if it's just vocal.”

Video Interview: Madeleine Madden & Zoë Robins Talk Wheel of Time, Now on Prime Video

The Wheel of TimeToday, one of the most popular epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, comes to Prime. Set in a world where only women are allowed to perform magic, Moraine (Rosamund Pike) of the powerful Aes Sedai travels to the small town of Two Rivers in search of the Dragon Reborn, who legend says will either save or destroy the world. There, she starts a dangerous journey with five candidates of the prophecy.

With the book series being so popular, fans, of course, have their own expectations of what the characters have been like. Madeleine Madden, who plays Egwene, one of the candidates, told SciFi Vision during a roundtable interview that regardless, the fan base has been a positive. “Of course, the series has a very passionate and loyal fan base,” said Madden, “which has really embraced us, and…we have used [it] multiple times as a wonderful resource to help us with our characters or with the story in general. Of course, people have expectations in their heads, and they're very loved characters, but, we, from my point of view, have been very embraced by the community. I think people are just very excited for this show to finally be made and to be on our screens so soon. So, it's been a real joy for us, and I know I can speak for all of the actors that have worked on this, have worked their butts off and given it their all. So, I think people will be really happy with [our] portrayal of these characters.”

Madden told journalists that Egwene is a privilege to play. “I got my my audition to play Egwene, and I had three scenes that were incredibly different. One showed her more softer romantic side, one showed her more eager, determined to learn side, and then one her really strong, steely side, and I just thought, ‘Wow, this is a really fleshed out character and a really strong woman that it would be an honor to play.’
