SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Krasinski, Daniels Say Farewell to "The Office"

By Karen Moul

John Krasinski on NBC's The supersized series finale of The Office airs this Thursday, May 16. The evening begins with a special one-hour retrospective, followed by the 75-minute final episode. "Months after the airing of the documentary," says the NBC's official press release, "the workers of Dunder Mifflin, past and present, gather for a wedding and a final round of interviews. Mysteries are solved, hatchets are buried, pranks are prunked."

"We didn't start off with the documentary as the finale," Executive Producer Greg Daniels told reporters. "The plan was to air the documentary in Episode 17, and as we got closer and closer to that point the writers and I would have furious debates.

"We thought it would be difficult to have a bunch of episodes after it had aired, and so we ended up pushing it off and off, and then it ended up being more close to the British show" on which the U.S. series is based."

Supernatural 8.21 Review: “The Great Escapist”

By John Keegan

supernatural_iconWhen it comes to brutality against its main characters, Supernatural ranks up there at the top of the list. This episode delivers blow after blow, and if there was any doubt that the demon/angel tablet plot arc is driving to a conclusion, it should be resolved at this stage. I don’t want to see them go to the usual well and have Sam die, but at the same time, I’m not sure that it would be less than a mercy killing.

Arrow 1.21 Review: “The Undertaking”

By John Keegan

arrow_iconKicking things up a notch as the season arc rushes towards its conclusion, Arrow delivers resolution for a number of lingering mysteries while eschewing flashbacks to the island for flashbacks to the days leading up to the fateful voyage that led to Robert Queen’s death and Oliver’s experience on Purgatory. It’s effectively the origin of “The Undertaking”, and while there are few surprises regarding those origins, it still manages to whet the appetite for the main event.

Grimm 2.19 Review: “Endangered”

By John Keegan

Grimm-2The late-season slump curse for Grimm continues. While the drop in overall quality and momentum isn’t nearly as severe as it was for the first season, there seems to be a distinct lack of progression here at the end. The awkward manner in which the mythology elements were crammed into this episode shocks me, when there was plenty of opportunity to replace the surprisingly boring Wesen situation with something of more importance.

Game of Thrones 3.5 Review: “Kissed by Fire”

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright

Game_of_Thrones_iconIf there’s one theme in Game of Thrones that has been more prominent than any other, it is the question of what happens when “honor” is pitted against, well… reality. Is it some ideal that should be held to no matter what the cost, as the Starks tend to believe? Or does it crumble under the weight of pragmatism? “Kissed by Fire” seems to bring all of this very much to the forefront again, and throws in some very interesting new character dynamics as well.

The Good Wife 4.22 Review: “What’s in The Box?”

By John Keegan and Henry Tran

thegoodwife-iconA viewer comes into a season finale with certain expectations depending on the show. Most often, finales give closure to the myriad of storylines and maybe set up one or two storylines as a cliffhanger for next season. The Good Wife is not short on storylines that need to wrap up. The main one in the finale being Peter winning the battle for the governorship against Mike Kresteva. The legal case that occupies much of the episode’s time is devoted to voting patterns for the gubernatorial race. Stewing in the background are primarily Cary ramping up efforts to start his own firm and the lingering romantic sparks between Will and Alicia. Surprisingly, the season finale chooses not to close any of these storylines. Instead, there is a great deal of time spent setting up the pieces on the chessboard for next season.

Warehouse 13 4.11 Review: “The Living and the Dead”

By John Keegan

warehouse_13_iconIt’s been a while since Warehouse 13 was on the air, and it’s absence has been keenly felt. The first half of the fourth season explored the ramifications of Artie decision to use the astrolabe in the third season finale, and it all culminated in Evil Artie unleashing a plague on the world and Claudia stabbing him in the heart with an artifact to excise the “Brother Adrian” personality from him.

Nico Tortorella: Life and Death on "The Following"

By Jamie Ruby

Nico TortorellaNico Tortorella, who previously talked to SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview, recently took part in a press call to talk about his role on The Following as Jacob, and his character's death at the hands of Emma, played by Valorie Curry.

Tortorella told SciFi Vision that he was partly surprised that Jacob forgave Emma so fast, which is what led to his murder. "I was surprised to an extent. But at the same time, there were only so many people that Jacob had to turn to in that house. Emma was getting literally slapped back and forth by everybody else in the house, and when she finally turned to Jacob for support, Jacob had nobody else to turn to, so it was either love or not love, and I think Jacob just showed love."

David Giuntoli: "Nothing Really Surprises Me on Grimm"

By Karen Moul

Photo by Michael Muller/NBCGrimm has moved to a new timeslot behind The Voice, and star David Giuntoli is thrilled. While discussing the move with journalists, he gave us a brief a preview tonight’s episode.

“We're going to be seeing something very paranormal,” he explained, “I want to say almost X-Files-y that is not a standard Grimm’s fairytale and almost like we're dealing what people on the Earth think are aliens.”

Meanwhile, Nick is still living in Monroe’s attic, but that doesn’t stop the Blutbad’s relationship with Rosalee from heating up. “I believe in this next episode there's a very funny scene where I perhaps walk in on a moment I shouldn't have walked in on,” shared Giuntoli.

With tonight’s episode, Grimm begins a four-episode run to the season finale, and Giuntoli was feeling very talkative about what’s in store for the characters.

“You could definitely see a Nick and Juliette reunion,” he hinted. No surprise there, although he went on to suggest the couple could face a few more obstacles. “I'm sure that in Grimm fashion they'll find some way to make that as difficult as humanly possible."

McClintock, Kelly, & Kenny Talk Season 4.5 of "Warehouse 13"

By Jamie Ruby

Warehouse 13Tonight Syfy will air an all new episode of Warehouse 13. The episode picks up where the previous cliffhanger left off, with Artie having killed Leena and having unleashed a deadly plague on the world with the Black Orchid Artifact. The two stars of the show, Eddie McClintock, who plays Pete Lattimer, and Joanne Kelly, who plays Myka Bering, as well as executive producer Jack Kenny, recently talked to the media about the midseason premiere, as well as what fans can expect moving forward.

Jack Kenny talked to SciFi Vision about some of the repercussions of Leena's death. "Artie's the first person that has to deal with this...and so we do a really cool thing where [we have] Claudia, who's our most obvious choice, go after Artie and bring him back to us. We have a really kind of emotional moment. And...Artie's having a very hard time dealing with what he did. He was affected by an artifact but he sees it as his hand is the one that did it, and so he's responsible. So there's that hurdle that has to be leapt over in terms of Artie making his peace with what an artifact made him do.
