SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet
Game of Thrones 3.10 Review: “Mhysa”
By John Keegan and Gregg Wright
Based on the previous two seasons, it was no surprise that the ninth episode of this season served as the real climax, while the final episode served as more of an epilogue and a transition into the next season. That’s the standard format for the show and it will probably remain that way for the rest of its run. I know little of how the books were written, but it stands to reason that this format was chosen simply because it closely follows the storytelling in the books. I haven’t read the books, but I think it fairly likely that the aftermaths of Ned’s death, the Battle of the Blackwater, and the Red Wedding all received an ample amount of description at the ends of each book.

Peterson: The Languages of "Defiance"
If you've watched Syfy's series Defiance, you've no doubt heard two of the Votan races, Irathient and Castithan, speaking in their native tongues. What you may not realize is how much is involved in creating a language for a series, let alone two. It's not just a few made up words, but rather entire languages are created. These include pronunciation and grammar rules just like any other language. The two languages and writings systems of Defiance were created by David J. Peterson, who also previously created the languages on Game of Thrones.Peterson recently talked to Jamie Ruby in a exclusive interview for SciFi Vision about what it took to create these languages.
Burn Notice 7.1 Review: “The New Deal”
By John Keegan
Burn Notice is a show that has burnt its fans with broken promises too many times for anyone to take claims of increased serialization seriously. Wasn’t that supposed to be the intention of the past three seasons? Instead, it was more of the same, with little indication that the status quo would change in a meaningful way. But with Burn Notice coming to a definitive close at the end of this season, perhaps the writers finally feel like they can break out of the formulaic mold.

DVD Review: "Teen Wolf" Season 2 - Just as Much Bite
Teen Wolf may have started as a reimagining of the film of the same name, but it's easy to tell very early on that it was a lot different than it's predecessor. The story follows werewolf Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), as he learns what it means to be a werewolf, and deals with all the problems it creates, including having to hide his relationship with Allison Argent (Crystal Reed) from her family, who happen to be werewolf hunters. The second season focuses on the new supernatural threat, the Kanima, who can paralyze victims with the toxin in its nails. Scott and his friends try to figure out who the new creature is, as well as who is directing it to kill, all while also dealing with whatever is going on with Lydia, new werewolves, and a new werewolf hunter, who is even more of a threat than they have encountered previously.

Revolution 1.20 Review: “The Dark Tower”
By John Keegan and James Graham
Well, it’s finally over. Twenty episodes in, the first season of Revolution has mercifully come to an end. Not long after the airing of the previous episode, it was announced that Ben Edlund was joining the writing crew of Revolution. Widely regarded as one of the strongest writers in the Supernatural stable, it seems that he was brought over by Eric Kripke to help do damage control and set Revolution back on the road to success.

By John Keegan and Henry Tran
The early part of the 1960?s decade depicted California as this laid-back, sunny paradise that functioned as a getaway from the hardships of business. It wasn’t thought of as a serious place to do anything that would be core to American business. The land of Hollywood motion pictures and Disneyland, with New York described as “the center of the universe” according to experts like Roger. We are approaching the end of the decade, and times are getting to be tumultuous seemingly by every progressing day.
