Humans, a series about “Synths,” artificially intelligent synthetic servants, premiered Sunday on AMC. Stars Katherine Parkinson and Tom Goodman-Hill, who play Laura and Joe Hawkins, recently talked to the media about the series.
The two talked about what first attracted them to the series. Parkinson told SciFi Vision, “I had a three week old baby when I got the script and was sort of hoping that they wouldn't be as good as they were, because I wasn't ready to get back to work so soon. My husband read them and said, “You have to do this” - because of the psychological thriller aspect of it. I just felt I hadn't read anything like it before, because it's sci-fi, but in a domestic setting. It felt like it was a very original way of doing it.”
Goodman-Hill told the site, “I think, just when I read it I felt like my entire life has led to this point, and I needed to be part of it, which sounds kind of flippant, but it's sort of true. I read very much sci-fi as a kid, and as a parent of teenagers, living in a world where my own teenagers engage with technology.
