Most fans will recognize the star of FOX's new drama,
Gracepoint, as the 10th Doctor from the massively popular British series,
Doctor Who.
David Tennant, however, also stars in the UK series
Broadchurch as Alec Hardy. Now, the actor is starring as Emmett Carver in FOX's 10-episode mystery series based on
Broadchurch. The series will have many similarities, but will also introduce new characters and storylines in an expansion of the original series, which is now filming its second season.
The series follows new to Gracepoint detective, Carver, who with the aid of Detective Ellie Miller (Anna Gunn), work to solve the tragic murder of twelve year old Danny Solano (Nikolas Filipovic).
In preparation of the premiere, Tennant talked to the media earlier in the week about the new series, which premieres Thursday, October 2nd on FOX.
Tennant talked to SciFi Vision about playing such similar characters, keeping them straight, and whether they bled into one another. "You're just sort of playing each scene as it comes up. You only shoot one scene at a time, so you try to stay as in the moment as possible. Maybe, if I was day about, going between the two shows, but I went to Vancouver Island where we shot the show, and I lived surrounded by all the people who were involved with it. That's what we were there to do. That's what you're concentrating on while you're there. I don't think it did really.
