Martin Freeman Stars in Fargo, Premiering April 15 on FX

By Jamie Ruby

Martin FreemanOn April 15 FX debuts its new series Fargo, adapted from the original film, but containing new characters and storylines.

Martin Freeman stars as insurance salesman Lester Nygaard, whose life is turned upside-down when he meets stranger Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thorton).

Freeman recently talked to the digital media about his work on the new series.

The actor talked to SciFi Vision about what attracted him to the role. "Just the fact that it's well written. The script itself is well written, the whole thing, the whole first episode, which is what I based my decision on. It was a lovely episode. And with Lester I just got the feeling that this was going to be a role where you could give rein to a lot of stuff, to play a lot of stuff.

"And even within that first episode the range that he goes between is really interesting, and so I knew that was only going to grow and expand in the next nine episodes, and so it proved to be. In all the 10 episodes I get to play as Lester pretty much the whole gamut of human existence and human feeling, you know, he does the whole lot.

"And that's exactly what you want to do as an actor. And Noah [Hawley] treads that line very well between drama and comedy and the light and dark. And I like playing that stuff. So, yeah, it was all of that really."

Billy Bob Thorton Stars in Fargo, Premiering 4/15 on FX

By Jamie Ruby

Billy Bob ThortonApril 15th FX premieres its new series Fargo, an adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film of the same name. The series follows new characters, including Lorne Malvo, played by Billy Bob Thorton. Malvo is a killer who enjoys exploiting the weak, often simply for his own enjoyment.

Thorton talked to SciFi Vision about one of his favorite scenes early on. "In the first two episodes, I really enjoyed the scene in the hospital with Lester, just when I first meet him, a total stranger asking for a drink of his soda pop, and just immediately knowing that this guy is weak. This guy is unsure of himself, so I can use him, and also I've got to give this guy a lesson in life here.

"Malvo almost takes his victims as students, in a way, too. And that was the first scene we shot, and I really enjoyed doing that with him, especially since we were just starting, and it didn't turn into an experiment. It just naturally happened because we're so different.

"Normally you're trying to get a chemistry with an actor, but in this case it was the opposite. We're total strangers and I'm just going to mess with this guy, so it was almost like you needed to come into it cold."

McClintock, Kelly, & Kenny on the Final Season of Warehouse 13

By Jamie Ruby

Warehouse 13On April 14th Syfy will premiere its fifth and final season of Warehouse 13. Recently stars Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly, along with executive producer Jack Kenny, talked to the digital media about the final six episodes.

There were a lot of great memories from the show. Were there any characters or storylines that they would have liked to have explored more if there was more time? There were quite a few. Kenny told SciFi Vision, "I would've loved to have done a little bit more with Pete's mom, but scheduling screwed us on that. But most people don't know that half the time when you don't see a character come back on a show it's because they got another job.

"But there were several characters that I would've loved to see a little bit more of that we really liked."

Rachel Nichols & Simon Barry Talk Season 3 of Continuum

By Jamie Ruby

ContinuumFriday Syfy premiered season three of Continuum. The new episode picked up where the last left off, with Alec (Erik Knudsen) having gone back in time to try to save his girlfriend Emily (Magda Apanowicz). Star Rachel Nichols, who plays Kiera Cameron, and the creator and executive producer, Simon Barry, talked to the media about the new season.

In the first episode of the season, Kiera and Garza (Luvia Petersen) got to work together for the first time, and it made for some great moments. Barry told SciFi Vision, "We knew that we were tied to [Garza] having been captured by the freelancers in Season 2 and when we decided to have Kiera go back chasing Alec in time, there was a decision made about when she would go back and what was the configuration of the show at that point in time, and we realized, well, we're sending Kiera back roughly a week and what's the situation a week earlier? And we went back to our previous episodes and realized, well, this is just after Garza had been taken, and so we saw an opportunity there to take advantage of that, really, and also put Kiera in a situation where she could replay events of her escape and have them turn out differently, which I think was important for that first episode, this first episode, because when you do time travel you need touchstones of storytelling. And I think that the idea that within the episode itself we could see that happen in the context of Kiera and Garza, so we saw that something bad happened to Garza, and then after Kiera had time traveled she could prevent that.

Cast of Lost Girl Talk Season 4 and Beyond

By Jamie Ruby

Lost GirlTonight Syfy airs the season four finale of Lost Girl. In preparation, stars Anna Silk, who plays the succubus Bo, Ksenia Solo, who plays her best friend Kenzi, Kris Holden-Ried, who plays Bo's love interest Dyson, and Zoie Palmer, who plays Lauren, the other member of that love triangle, talked to the digital media recently about the end of the season and what could possibly be coming moving into season five.

This season has had a lot of dark moments. One particular heart-wrenching event was Hale (K.C. Collins) being killed. The cast talked about finding out about the character's death. Solo told SciFi Vision, "It was very sad to find out about Hale dying. I think it was extremely unexpected, and the character and the person, K.C. Collins, is such an integral part of the Lost Girl family, and we've all really grown together over these last five years since the pilot. And so, of course, it's like losing a family member in a way. It was very sad.

"But I think we knew at the beginning of the season that that was going to happen...I can't remember exactly when we found out, but we all had to make peace with it as the season went on, but it was really hard to say goodbye to him for sure."

Vandervoort said, "That was a huge sort of hit for the audience to finally discover why it is that she's had this hate towards Clay, and the scene with Greg - I mean, he's just phenomenal. And, doing that scene was heartbreaking for both of us. It was very much a father/daughter thing.

"And obviously, now she's going to have more respect and love for Clay, and she's sort of bonded with him again."
