SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet

David Boreanaz & Emily Deschanel on the End of Season 9

By Jamie Ruby

BonesThe popular series Bones has only two episodes left this season, with the finale, directed by star David Boreanaz, airing on May 19th. Boreanaz, who plays Special Agent Seeley Booth on the series, and Emily Deschanel, who stars as Dr. Temperance Brennan, talked to the media about the end of this season and moving forward into the next.

Boreanaz talked to SciFi Vision about directing the season finale. "It's always a challenge to take on something like the season finale. You know, you get to the end of the season, and then everybody's a little tired and worn out and, you know, the patience is thin, and with this specific season finale being that there was so much information that we kind of had to gather up and put out there in one 45-minute hit, it made it difficult and challenging. There were lots of elements that were involved, whether it was dealing with the big, huge hearing in front of Congress, or the intense battle between other forces that could come in and jeopardize Bones's and Booth's relationship as well as the outcome of where they're heading into as far as season ten is concerned.

Colin Hanks Talks Fargo

By Jamie Ruby

Colin HanksColin Hanks plays Duluth police officer Gus Grimly on FX's popular new series Fargo. Grimly's life is changed after his encounter with Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thorton). Choosing to let him drive off after pulling him over is a decision that has plagued him. When fate brings them back together he will have to confront that decision.

Hanks recently talked to the media about his work on Fargo and what fans can expect moving forward.

Hanks talked to SciFi Vision about preparing for the role. "Really the only preparation that I did was just working on the Minnesota accent. That was really it. Gus is not necessarily - well, he is not a good cop really. He is sort of out of his depth, out of his element, so there wasn't really any police training that I had to do.

"In fact, I sort of specifically did things poorly. You train, if you play enough cops, eventually you say, "I know how to hold the weapon; I know how to do this," and I sort of undid all of that to make Gus look a little bit more out of his element, but the only real preparation I did was work with the dialect coach to try and get a little bit of his accent down. We didn't want to go too big on the accent, but we wanted to make sure that there were some subtle moments in his speech that would indicate he definitely has an accent."

Kiefer Sutherland Says Jack Bauer Is "Angrier Than He's Ever Been"

By Karen Moul

Kiefer SutherlandKiefer Sutherland returns to TV next week as 24's fugitive super-agent Jack Bauer. After a four-year hiatus, he was more than happy to reprise the role, but insists he's not the reason fans tune in.

"The real star of the show is the time signature," he told SciFi Vision. "Because in the context of a thriller, that ticking clock, it really does matter. It makes you quite nervous, inherently it just does because you know time is running out."

While 24: Live Another Day includes that familiar clock, Sutherland said this new incarnation is different from the original 24 in two critical ways.

"One of them," he explained, "is that Jack Bauer usually started off every season working within the infrastructure of whatever government agency he's a part of, or in line with the president of the United States. And then that might shift, but he certainly always starts there."

The Clock Is Ticking on "24: Live Another Day"

By Karen Moul

24: Live Another DayFans of the hit series 24 have been waiting four years and at last, Jack is back! Kiefer Sutherland returns as agent Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, but the new incarnation has a twist: the groundbreaking 24-hour format is condensed to 12 hours, and the action has moved from L.A. to London.

Despite its shorter run, the series is everything longtime fans will expect. The format and frantic pace are unchanged, as is the iconic ticking clock. Although we'll see only half as many episodes, Executive Producers/Showrunner Manny Coto reassures viewers that "This is a realtime series and it remains a realtime series. All we are doing is presenting 12 hours out of a 24-hour period. But the episodes themselves are realtime."

When we last saw Jack, he fled into hiding with the help of his colleague and friend, Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub). Live Another Day picks up four years later. What have the former agents gotten into this time? As usual, Coto and Executive Producer Evan Katz found inspiration in current political events – specifically, says Coto, "the whole idea of government spying on its citizens and the technology and consequently individuals who are trying to fight that.

Bob Odenkirk Talks Fargo

By Jamie Ruby

Bob OdenkirkFX recently premiered it's new series Fargo. Bob Odenkirk, who plays the part of Deputy Bill Oswalt in the series, recently talked to the media about that role, as well as some of the other work that he's known for.

Odenkirk talked to SciFi Vision about what attracted him to his role in Fargo. "I love the movie. I got the script and my first instinct on it was "please don't ruin the movie I loved," and I would say by about page eight or nine of reading of the script, I felt, oh man, this is great. This is everything good. They took all the great vibe from the movie. They took the darkness and the comedy and they, well they, Noah Hawley is the writer and he did all this work and he took what you can take and not take the specifics of the movie; and I could just tell it was very entertaining, so I wanted to go in on it and I just worked on my part and went in and I read for it and hoped that I would get it and I did.

"And then I was just surprised at how it grew over time as we were shooting it and how my part, Bill Oswalt, without giving away too many spoilers or any spoilers, he gets to go somewhere emotionally and it's pretty great."
