SciFi Vision - Where Fiction and Reality Meet
Mad Men 6.3 Review: “The Collaborators”
By John Keegan and Henry Tran
In an ideal world, everyone in life would strive to find the right balance between their personal and professional lives. Be happy at work and come home to a loving family. The “American Dream”, as it were. That’s the goal for everyone here. Unfortunately, there are a lot of obstacles that stand in the way of that goal. Whether it be pleasing or cajoling clients one at a time, or an extramarital affair, there are costs to the decisions being made here. Don has made the decision to cheat on his wife before. It hasn’t happened with Megan in multiple instances like with Betty, but this affair with Sylvia has hit closer to home than previous ones.

By John Keegan and Paul Pearson
The third season finale of Lost Girl is a vast improvement over its counterpart from season two, and that alone is enough to win it a lot of goodwill. There were countless opportunities for the show to fall into the same traps but “Those Who Wander” gives every character an engaging storyline and moments of humour or heroism or just flat-out coolness, and it ends on a cliffhanger that suggests even better things to follow.

By John Keegan and Gregg Wright
For being such a generally grim show, Game of Thrones can be surprisingly funny. Maybe no one else is surprised by this, but it almost always seems to catch me off guard. It’s a bit of a wonder that a single episode of Game of Thrones can contain both a deadly serious scene of a likable character getting his hand chopped off and also one of the funniest scenes of the entire show: that of Tyrion’s plan to reward Podrick for saving his life during the Battle of Blackwater Bay. My attempts to describe it just seem to ruin it. There’s no substitute for just watching it.

By Jamie Ruby
Last week Lazaro Arbos was voted off of American Idol, leaving only female contestants. The Florida native recently talked to the digital media about his time spent on the show, as well as what he has planned for the future.
The singer told SciFi Vision that the best part about being on the show was about who he got to meet. "I got to meet a lot of amazing people that I’ll have lifelong bonds with. I think that this show definitely gave me a stronger mindset."
He also talked about what his upcoming album will look like. "I love love songs a lot, but at the same time I like pop. I’d want to do a commercial pop album, but with some love songs as well."

The Borgias 3.1 Review: “The Face of Death”
By John Keegan
The Borgias has evolved from somewhat mundane and disappointing beginnings into the show that many of us were hoping to see. The second season was a vast improvement on the first, and now the cast has settled into their roles rather nicely. It means that they can hit the ground running, with the aftermath of Juan’s death and Rodrigo’s poisoning.

By John Keegan
Satisfying series finales can be a difficult feat to achieve. Just ask the showrunners for Lost or Battlestar Galactica. For every Babylon 5 that sticks the unbelievable landing, there’s a dozen Enterprisedebacles. Even when history dictates how a story will end, there’s plenty of ways that the storytelling can be derailed. And so, even with two solid episodes worth of prelude in “Separate Paths” and “The Dead and the Dying”, I was a little worried about how Spartacus: War of the Damned would close out the saga.

Syfy Digital Press Tour 2012 - Day Two
Part Two - Defiance Q&A
October 15, 2012
In October I, along with other journalists, were invited to Toronto, Canada for the Syfy Digital Press Tour, where Defiance was one of the series highlighted. Having never received a transcript, I finally decided to sit down and transcribe the full interview in anticipation for the premiere on Monday. Without further adeu...
As part of the Syfy Digital Press Tour, journalists were taken on a tour of the Defiance set.
After arriving in the Need/Want bar at the end of the tour, everyone sat down for presentations. First we heard from Gary Hutzel who gave a VFX presentation, and then we heard from David J. Peterson on the creation of three of the alien languages in Defiance, including Irathient, Castithan, and Indogene.
The main presentation was a Q&A panel with the cast of Defiance, including Grant Bowler, who plays Nolan, Stephanie Leonidas, who portrays the Irathient, Irisa, Julie Benz who plays Amanda Rosewater, Jaime Murray and Tony Curran, who play Castithans Stahma and Datak Tarr, respectively, and Graham Greene, who portrays Rafe McCawley. They were joined by the executive producer of the series, Kevin Murphy, and President of Original Content at Syfy, Mark Stern.

"The Locker" Comes to DVD on 5/14
Fact, fantasy and paranoia intertwine in this TERRIFYING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER IN THE VEIN OF KISS THE GIRLS AND ALONG CAME A SPIDER
The chilling question in THE LOCKER, a taut psychological thriller is "who's watching you?" Shot in an "actual" haunted house, the film stars Natalie Dickinson (Crushed, "Friday Night Lights", "Prison Break")) as a young woman who has been institutionalized for insisting that she's the lone escapee and survivor from a masked maniac that kidnaps and tortures beautiful women. Months later, after pulling her life together, she receives a book that details her frightening story, but no one believes her -- not even the police. Now, with her desperate grasp of reality spiraling out of control, and trapped between what is real, and what may be real, Emily must change the outcome of this horrific tale before it's too late. Was it all a delusion or is the evil still out there waiting to re-claim its prize? Stacy Cunningham (Universal Squadrons, Earthling, Ripple Effect), Farah White (Miss Congeniality, Hate Crime, Stripped) and Joey Greco ("Cheaters", Serum) co-star.
