Reginald the Vampire, which premiered it’s new season recently, ended last season with Reginald (Jacob Batalon) having passed the assessment with the help of his friends, as well as the vampire, Angela (Savannah Basley), who became an unlikely ally. His sire, Maurice (Mandela Van Peebles) also became the Deacon of the Americas after staking the previous one. 

When season two picks up, the vampires discover there is a completely new threat to their existence: angels. Reginald must deal with the threat, as well as help Maurice to use his role as Deacon to change their community for the better. Meanwhile, in his personal life, Reginald continues to try to reconcile with his Slushy Shack co-worker/former girlfriend, Sarah (Em Haine). 

Recently, star Batalon spoke with SciFi Vision about the second season including how he’s helping Maurice use his powers as Deacon for good, where his relationship with Sarah is headed, how being a vampire has changed Reginald, whether he likes working with fake blood, some of the challenges he has faced this season, how his life has changed since booking the show, what he looks for in a role, and much, much more. 

In tonight’s all-new episode of Doctor Who, “73 Yards,” the Doctor and Ruby arrive on the coast of Wales and discover a fairy circle, which the Doctor accidentally steps on, breaking it. Suddenly the Doctor disappears and Ruby is left alone – except for a mysterious older woman who follows her everywhere, but always at the distance of 73 yards.

“73 Yards” focused on Welsh folklore horror and is Doctor Who at its best. The funny thing is, the Doctor was nowhere to be seen for 99% of the episode, yet I loved it and was on the edge of my seat. Millie Gibson did a phenomenal job of keeping the viewer intrigued from start to finish. 

The episode was full of creepy atmosphere and really gave you a sense of foreboding every time Ruby would see the old woman following her. She was isolated without the Doctor with no one to help, because everyone who talked to the woman would after the fact avoid Ruby, never to see her again. Her mother abandoning her was the most heartbreaking, as was her stating at the end of the episode that she had been abandoned by everyone, because it was true.

I loved seeing Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, as always. It gave a sense of relief in this case, someone Ruby could trust come to the rescue, until you realized she had her earpiece in and was therefore poisoned by the old woman’s words as well. All this just kept the feeling of the episode getting darker as years and decades passed for Ruby.

Sight, which opens in theaters today and stars Terry Chen and Greg Kinnear, is based on the inspiring true story of Dr. Ming Wang (Chen), a poor Chinese immigrant who flees Communist China and grows up to be a world-renowned eye surgeon in America. The story starts in 1970s China, where a young Ming faces many hardships, including living through the violent uprising, the Cultural Revolution, but with the support of his family, as well as his own determination, he is able to go to America on a scholarship where he attends Harvard and MIT. Eventually, he helps create a technology that would be used to restore sight to millions of people. Through the story, he takes on the impossible task of helping an orphan blinded by her stepmother. He must not only face the traumas of his past, but will also learn that determination and will can only take you so far.

Recently, the second season of Outer Range premiered on Prime Video. The series follows rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), who last season found a dark void on his farm, which allows someone to travel through time. One of the big reveals of the first season was that Autumn (Imogen Poots), who had been staying with the Abbotts, was actually Royal and Cecelia (Lili Taylor)’s granddaughter, Amy, from the future.

Poots, recently spoke with SciFi Vision about season two and talked about how fate plays a role for her character this season. “I think she's on more solid ground this season in the sense of, she's got sort of empirical truths,” the actress told the site. “She's got evidence, and she's got pieces that she can begin to put together to understand who she is and where she has come from.”

The actress went on to explain that that gives it more of an “emotional engine” as she’s not just reacting to everything now. “There is also this sort of sinister element to it, which is an understanding of one's own power,” Poots added. “When she has that information, it's sort of, does she use that for the greater good? Does she use it for her own selfish intentions and motivations? So, in terms of her fate, I think, obviously, we see her getting closer to that in this season, which just allows for a more grounded space to be in.”

Based on the UK series, The 1% Club is Amazon’s first game show that tests the intelligence of the nation, based on scientific surveys. Recently, Oswalt spoke with SciFi Vision about hosting the new series, including how well he would do as a contestant, if he retains what he’s learned, what he’d still love to do in his acting career, who he'd love to work with, and much more.

In the second season, Angela has to deal with a lot of changes in the way things are now and also decide what kind of vampire shes’s going to be and whose side she’s really on. 

Recently, Savannah Basley spoke with SciFi Vision about Savannah’s journey this seasons and how she’s changed, how she’s dealing with her new living arrangements, her relationship with Maurice, Angela’s kick-ass costumes, whether she likes working with blood, guest stars she’d love to see, her love of horror films, and much more.

Dark Matter recently premiered on Apple TV+. Based on Blake Crouch’s bestselling science fiction novel of the same name, the series follows Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) who is walking home one night when he is abducted by a man who looks exactly like him and sent into an alternate reality where everything is different. In the alternate universe he doesn’t have a wife (Jennifer Connelly), nor does he have a son (Oakes Fegley). Eventually he discovers that the version of himself from that dimension created a box that enables people to jump between universes. With the help of Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga), the girlfriend of his alternate self, he starts his journey traveling through the mind-bending landscape of different lives he could have lived, searching for his way home to his real family. 

Recently, Edgerton and Braga spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series. Edgerton talked about playing a multitude of different Jason’s for the series and how he balanced their differences, yet inherently same core. “I think it was imperative that the core of who Jason was in any given incarnation was essentially the same,” the actor told the site. “On one level, the swagger of success and science awards and all that is there, but [there’s] this question of, is he even really happy with that success? On the other hand, you've got Jason who thinks he's unhappy, who's then going to find out, he actually realizes, he has a pretty decent life, there's just little differences. I think it was important to lean on the intentions of each character as the differences, rather than presume to want to play an entirely different character, which would have been the wrong way to go.” 

Recently, Reginald the Vampire returned to Syfy for an all-new season two. The series follows Reginald Andres (Jacob Batalon) whose life was upended last season when he was turned into a vampire. Although not the stereotypical vampire, Reginald found a place with his sire, Maurice (Mandela Van Peebles), while continuing to try to maintain a normal existence working at the Slushy Shack with his former girlfriend, Sarah (Em Haine), who he hopes to win back. 

At the end of lasts season, Reginald was required to pass an assessment with the threat of his death and that of his sire if he failed. With the help of his friends, including unlikely vampire ally Angela (Savannah Basley), he passed, and the Deacon was killed, with Maurice taking on the job. 

In season two, Maurice must learn what it means to be Deacon while also dealing with a new threat to all the vampires: angels. 

In tonight’s all-new episode of Doctor Who, titled “Boom,” landing on a planet at war, Kastarion 3, the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) steps on a landmine and must reign in his emotions and use his wit to save Ruby (Millie Gibson) and the planet, all without moving.

Tonight’s episode was written by previous showrunner Steven Moffat. Known for many classic episodes, I expected it to be be better than the previous two (and more serious), and I wasn’t disappointed on either front. This episode felt more like the series I love. Don’t get me wrong, I love the comedy too, but as I stated in last week’s review, at times I found the episodes to be a bit too silly. This episode had more emotional gravitas and was at times heartbreaking.

Once again, Gatwa was phenomenal as the Doctor, and I liked seeing him rushing headfirst into danger rather than being too scared and hanging back like in the previous two episodes. Of course, it may have been the wrong move to do so, but it often is. Fans also got to see a more vulnerable side to the Doctor in the episode as well, which I appreciated. Gibson was also really enjoyable to watch. Once again I feel a bit of Clara (Jenna Coleman) in her and love that she doesn’t just follow what the Doctor says, and she risked her life to save him. The two of them continue to have fantastic chemistry on screen.

The second season of Outer Range comes to Prime Video starting today. The series follows rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), who in season one found a dark void on his farm. In season two, he and his family are dealing with the disappearance of their granddaughter, Amy (Olive Abercrombie), while also trying to understand the revelation of Autumn (Imogen Poots)’s true identity. Meanwhile, the family is at risk of losing their land again to the neighboring Tillersons, now that Perry (Tom Pelphrey) is no longer around to face trial.

This season, Royal is finally able to tell his wife Cecilia (Lili Taylor) about the void and what happened previously, but is it too late? Not necessarily, according to star Brolin, who spoke with SciFi Vision recently about season three. “I think there's an inevitable recalibration that has to happen within the whole family unit that he doesn't really anticipate,” the actor told the site. “I don't know if he knows what is going to come, but what happens is it all becomes very chaotic, because instead of not saying anything, and being in a perpetual mystery, you're actually known now to be not trustworthy.”

The actor added that Royal's relationship with his family and himself, almost everything, changed. “You would think that by coming to terms with yourself and your own dishonesties, that everything gets better instantaneously, and that's not the way it works,” Brolin added. “The consequences that we suffer usually happen way after the fact and not really during the fact.”
