Gotham is an origin story of the DC Comics villains and those that fight to keep Gotham City safe from them. It's a new take on the classics and takes place while characters such as Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) are still teenagers.

The series follows new detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he partners with legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), who is less than happy to have him there.

Their first big case is trying to solve the murder of billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne, the future superhero's parents. They will face the mob as well as characters that fans will recognize as they try to uncover the truth.

Last week Syfy premiered their new series Z Nation, and it was met with success. Over 1.6 million people watched the premiere, making it Syfy's highest rated acquired scripted series debut since Doctor Who in 2006.

The show follows a ragtag group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse, three years after the virus started spreading. The only man to survive having being bitten (Keith Allan) may hold the key to saving the human race, and it's up to them to get him from New York to a lab in California for the hope of a vaccine.

Michael Welch (The Twilight Saga), who plays the character of Mack on the show, recently sat down with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision for an exclusive interview.

Welch worked with The Asylum, the production company of Z Nation, before, and they asked him to work on the series. "I did a film with The Asylum a few years ago called Born Bad, and it ended up doing pretty well for them; it came out great. So I'm a big fan of that movie. I always kept in touch with those guys. They would invite me to events and things over the years, and every time I saw them we always said, "We've got to work together again; we have to find a project."

Gotham, which premieres next Monday on FOX, is an origin story of DC Comics villains and those that fight them.

The series follows James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in his new job as detective in Gotham City and his partner, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), as they work to solve the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, the parents of the future super hero (David Mazouz).

Gotham also features many of the villains that fans of the Batman franchise will recognize, such as Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Poison Ivy (Clare Foley), and the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith).

In preparation for the premiere, Executive Producer and writer Bruno Heller recently talked to the media about the new series.

Heller talked to SciFi Vision about one of his favorite scenes of the series so far. "Danny [Cannon] did such a great job. I very rarely watch the first few episodes of a series with glee. I tend to see the things I wish we'd done differently. But with this, I thought it was all gripping.

FX's hit series, The Strain, which has already been renewed for a second season, follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) of the CDC as they are called in to investigate a viral outbreak, which they soon find out is actually an ancient strain of vampirism. With the help of expert Abraham Setrakian, played by David Bradley, who has seen the vampires before, they must work together to hunt down and stop the Strigoi.

Star Bradley recently talked to SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview.

The process of becoming involved in The Strain was very quick for Bradley, but he was eager to do it. "I was sitting quietly at home, looking forward to Christmas, and there was not much on the horizon. I had had quite a busy year, thankfully, and then I got a call from my agent to expect a transatlantic call from Guillermo [del Toro] and Carlton Cuse, the producer, which was thrilling. They came on, and they explained these things to me about what they wanted to do and how they were looking for this character.

The fifth season of Haven, which airs tonight on Syfy, picks up where the fourth left off. The door to the other world has been closed, leaving William (Colin Ferguson) on the other side and a none too happy Mara having taken over Audrey (Emily Rose).

The episode focuses on what happened to everyone after the door was closed. Nathan (Lucas Bryant) wants Audrey back and will do anything to get her. Meanwhile the town is facing an all new and horrible Trouble that may or may not have been caused by Mara. Also, Jennifer (Emma Lahana) is missing and could be part of the key to finding and stopping Mara.

Friday Syfy premieres its new zombie series Z Nation. The series follows a group of survivors during a zombie apocalypse as they attempt to transport a man (Keith Allan) across the country who may hold the key to a vaccine for the zombie virus.

In preparation, the showrunner and executive producer, Karl Schaefer, talked to the digital media about the new series.

Schaefer talked to SciFi Vision about how Z Nation stands out from series of similar subject matter on television now. "First off there is obviously a great zombie show in The Walking Dead already on, so our mission is sort of to go where they don't, and I think the biggest difference between us and them is our series has a sense of hope and also a sense of humor. We're kind of trying to put the fun back into zombies. Our heroes have a mission that they're on, so we're traveling every week. We're going across the country. They're not just sort of fighting for survival and hunkering down into one place. They really have somewhere to go and something to do.

Haven returns to Syfy for season five tomorrow night. In preparation, two of the stars of the series, Emily Rose, who plays Audrey Parker and her incarnations, including the newest, Mara, and Lucas Bryant, who plays Nathan Wuornos, recently talked to the press about the new season.

Bryant talked to SciFi Vision about the transition of filming scenes with Mara and Nathan compared to Audrey and Nathan. "First of all Emily Rose, who is sitting next to me is edible this season as always, but exceptionally so in the role of Mara. It's a total treat to watch her and get to play with her.

"...But I mean, for Nathan, this is a nightmare, you know. I can't really tell you all the things that Mara is capable of, but she is a force."

Next Wednesday Fox airs its new dramedy Red Band Society. The series is a unique coming of age story about a group of friends who are live-in patients at the Los Angeles' Ocean Park Hospital and the adults at the hospital who help them through good times and bad.

Octavia Spencer, who stars as Nurse Jackson, recently talked to the media about her new series.

Spencer talked to SciFi Vision about how she became involved in the project. She was requested for the role. "I have a great team at WME. They were fielding a lot of requests for me to read a lot of stuff. I read a few pilots and I just – Steven Spielberg is my favorite director. So when his name is on anything, of course I'm going to take it seriously.

"But I was really relieved that I absolutely, positively loved the show. Everything that you experienced as a viewer, I experienced as an actor reading the material. It's on the page.
