The following contains spoilers for tonight's episode

On tonight’s penultimate episode of this season of Doctor Who, “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) head to UNIT to try to find the truth of her past, as well as the identity of the mystery woman, Susan Triad (Susan Twist), who has appeared in every episode of the season. Opening a time window at UNIT, they recreate the Christmas Eve when the Doctor found Ruby from an old surveillance video, but there is something there that shouldn’t be. Can they figure out what truly happened and how it connects to Triad Technology before it’s too late?

This definitely once again felt like a classic, though more serious, episode of the series. Both Gatwa and Ncuti shined. I also appreciated that the Doctor once again jumped headfirst into danger, knowing that it was likely a trap, although it was also refreshing to see him learn that there can be consequences for that as well.

The darkly funny drama Blue Lights returns to Britbox today with the first two episodes of season two. The procedural police drama, set in Northern Ireland, follows three probatory officers, Grace (Sian Brooke), Tommy (Nathan Braniff), and Annie (Katherine Devlin), and those who train and work with them. In the second season, after the fall of the McIntyre crime gang in season one, rival gangs are competing to take over. DS Murray Canning (Desmond Eastwood) of the paramilitary crime task force comes in to help with the increase in crime and tries to bring Tommy into the world of intelligence policing. Also introduced is new responder, Constable Shane Bradley (Frank Blake), who sparks Annie’s interest, but his motivations are unclear. Meanwhile, Grace must deal with her growing feelings for her coworker and fellow officer Stevie Neil (Martin McCann).

Recently, Braniff, Brooke, and Devlin spoke with SciFi Vision about their characters’ love interests this season, how the introduction of DS Canning affects their jobs and the team, how some of the events of the first episode of the second season will effect the characters moving forward, and more.

<br/ >On tonight’s all new episode of Doctor Who, “Rogue,” the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) travel to a Regency ball in 1813 in Bath where they encounter shape shifting bird-like aliens called Chuldurs who are killing guests at the party to take over their identities. While investigating, the Doctor discovers a bounty hunter who calls himself Rogue (Jonathan Groff), who thinks that the Doctor is one of them.

To me, this episode felt like a classic Doctor Who episode – finally! With the past two weeks being Doctor-lite, it was a great relief to get more of Gatwa. Surprisingly, however, we got less of his partnership with Ruby in this one, but it’s not to the detriment of the episode. The two still get plenty of scenes together later in the episode, and when they split up, it gives Ruby a chance to explore on her own. It’s is fun to watch her delight entering a Bridgerton-esque fantasy world and interacting with those of the era, her anachronisms making her stand out.

Meanwhile, the Doctor goes off to investigate on his own when he follows the sonar interference and runs into Rogue. Their banter really works as they seem evenly matched in wit. I absolutely loved the silly side of the Doctor in the scene with him continuing to turn on Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” in Rogue’s ship and lip syncing and moving to the beat. I was a little surprised to see a flirty Doctor, but I didn’t mind it; it was a cute scene, especially when he gets flustered that his psychic papers say “You’re hot.”

Today, the second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution premiered. The thrilling series follows the Behavioral Analysis Unit as they catch the worst of the worst serial killers. Season two picks up with the mystery of Gold Star. Meanwhile, the profilers are not happy as serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) is back and transferred to local federal custody after negotiating a deal.

Star AJ Cook, who plays the part of Jennifer Jareau recently spoke with SciFi Vision about her character’s confrontation with Voit this season. “JJ gets to kind of go head to head with Voit, and there's sort of an interesting vibe between the two of them, I guess you could say,” said Cook, adding that they’ve really met their match with Voit. “[H]e is truly a talented profiler…he’s intelligent and is really good at reading people and getting into the minds of people.” 

The second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution premieres today on Paramount+. The police procedural follows the Behavioral Analysis Unit as they hunt down serial killers. Season two picks up as the team of profilers investigate the Gold Star mystery. Meanwhile, serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) is back after negotiating a deal that sees him transferred to local federal custody. 

This season, Voit becomes part of the case when the BAU needs information about Gold Star. According to Gilford, who spoke recently with SciFi Vision, “[Voit] uses anything he can to manipulate everyone for his own benefit.”

According to Adam Rodriguez, who plays Luke Alvez and has a confrontation with the serial killer at the beginning of the season, “Voit just knows how to push buttons.” The actor added that he’s good at eliciting reactions to get them to do what he wants.

Dark Matter, which is based on the bestselling novel by Blake Crouch, follows Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) who is kidnapped on his way home by a man who looks exactly like him and sent into an alternate dimension. Jason, with the help of Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga), travels to different dimensions trying to get back to his own universe and family. Today, the sixth episode of the series premiered on Apple TV+. In the episode, entitled “Superposition,” the character of Jason’s friend, Ryan (Jimmi Simpson), accuses the alternate Jason of stealing his research. Although he is able to convince Ryan that he didn’t steal the drug he was developing, he takes him into the Box to an alternate Chicago, stranding him there. 

When Simpson recently spoke with SciFi Vision, he revealed that if he was stranded in another universe like his character, he thinks he would be able to adapt, because in the past he’s gone with the flow. “I went to school to be a English teacher, and then I took a [theater] class, just because I thought I could skip it,” the actor explained. “…My teacher saw me do a scene and said, ‘Oh, you should add this to your major.’ Then, from that point on, I've really just gone with whatever's happening, and it feels natural to me.” 

Outer Range, which recently premiered its second season on Prime Video, follows Royal Abbott, who continues to fight for his family and land after last season he found a dark void on his farm that lets someone travel through time. 

In the final episode last season, a second void opens up after Luke Tillerson (Shaun Sipos) digs a hole, and a horde of buffalo come stampeding out, causing Rhett Abbott (Lewis Pullman) and Maria Olivares (Isabel Arraiza)’s car to crash on the way out of town.

Recently, the second season of the science fiction western Outer Range dropped on Prime Video. In season one, Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) finds a dark void on his property that he discovers allows someone to travel through time. In season two, the Abbotts fight to keep their land away from the Tillersons who know about the void, as well as the fact that ingesting the black mineral rocks from around it enables someone to see the future.

Shaun Sipos, who plays the role of Luke Tillerson, and Noah Reid, who plays his brother, Billy, recently spoke with SciFi Vision about working on season two, including how Luke has changed after having experienced the mineral rocks, what it was like for Reid to spend a portion of the season in bed, how they both balance how far to take their characters’ visions this season, and more.

Outer Range follows Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), who continues to fight for his family and land in season two, after having discovered a dark void on his farm land last season that enables people to travel through time. At the end of last season, Joy (Tamara Podemski), the Deputy Sheriff, somehow, without going into the void, followed a path to a ridge and found herself in the past in a Native American settlement. 

Recently, Podemski talked to SciFi Vision about Joy’s journey in season two and how traveling to the past changes her, her character’s tentative friendship with Royal, and if knowing the truth will change how she handles the events surrounding his family. 

In tonight’s all-new episode of Doctor Who, “Dot and Bubble,” the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) try to save the residents of Finetime, who are happy chatting away in their “bubbles,” on social media. However, not everything is as perfect as it seems as giant slug-like creatures start eating the citizens. Can the Doctor and Ruby get them to step into the real world to escape before it’s too late?

This episode is once again Doctor-lite, but also doesn’t have much of Ruby either, focusing instead on Lindy Pepper-Bean (Callie Cooke). The duo are, as usual, fantastic for what we see of them, but I definitely would have liked more, especially in such a short season. That being said, Cooke does a great job of carrying the story. In fact, the majority of the story is focused on her face inside the bubble rather than even the environment, which was likely hard to pull off.
