Recently, Starz premiered the season finale of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Fearing for Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy)’s safety, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) prepared for her wedding to Malcolm Grant (Jhon Lumsden), only to discover that her brother, Colum (Seamus McLean Ross), had broken his promise and ordered assassins to kill Brian. This of course prompted Ellen to break her own promise and choose a daring escape with her beloved. Aided by others, the two do make it out of Castle Leoch, but not without complications, including the death of Malcolm at the hands of Brian in self-defense. However, in the end, more hardship follows as Ellen and Brian see the mountain crosses burning, which signals a looming battle, and Brian must choose between duty and love once again.

Recently, stars Slater and Roy spoke with SciFi Vision about the season finale, including why Brian is making the choice to return for battle, what Ellen’s plans are, if either of them would have been able to move on if things had gone differently, and if Ellen can ever forgive her brother.

The film, Love, Danielle, which is available starting today in North America on VOD platforms and DVD, is the first scripted feature to explore the reality of living with a BRCA gene mutation before being diagnosed with cancer. Based on the true story of Devin Sidell, who stars in the film as Danielle, the film shows some of the emotional issues and medical decisions that follows that discovery and the courage of facing it head-on.

Sidell, along with co-star Jaime King, who plays Danielle’s sister Amy, spoke with SciFi Vision recently about the moving yet uplifting film.

Based on the New York Times bestselling book series of the same name by Michael Buckley, The Sisters Grimm premieres today on Apple TV+. The animated series follows two orphan sisters, Sabrina (Ariel Winter), and Daphne (Lea Newman), who have come to live with their grandmother (Laraine Newman) and find themselves in a town full of heroes and villains ripped straight from fairy tales. The two junior sleuths must navigate the town as they continue to investigate the mystery surrounding their missing parents. Along the way they encounter a cast of colorful characters including Puck, voiced by Billy Harris.

Recently, Harris spoke with SciFi Vision about creating his own version of Puck, being a kid again, the difficulties of voice work, and more.

The crime drama Tulsa King follows Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), a New York mafia capo who has been released from prison after serving 25 years. After keeping silent about the mob’s crimes, instead of being welcomed back and able to claim his place of power as he expected, he is sent by the Invernizzi crime family to Tulsa, Oklahoma to build a new criminal empire from scratch.

In season three, Dwight intends to expand his empire by buying a coveted bourbon distillery run by the Montagues, but his plans are derailed by the Dunmire family, led by Jeremiah (Robert Patrick), who wants it for his own, and his son, Cole (Beau Knapp), who is the muscle. The formidable Dunmires, who rules the local liquor trade through intimidation and spilt blood, will force Dwight to fight for everything he’s built in Tulsa.

Recently, Knapp spoke with SciFi Vision about joining the cast for season three of the series, working with both Stallone and Patrick, the contradictory nature of his character, and more.

Season two of Karen Pirie, which premieres today on Britbox, sees the detective inspector (Lauren Lyle) handed a challenging high-profile cold case involving the decades-old kidnapping of a wealthy heiress, Catriona Grant (Julia Grant), and her infant son. From the get-go, Pirie faces resistance from the family, eager to keep their secrets buried. As she grows closer to the truth, her and the team will be forced to contend with not just the evidence but also the influence of wealth and the secrets that those who have it go to great lengths to protect.

Recently, star Lyle, as well as writer/executive producer Emer Kenny, who also plays River Wilde in the series, spoke with SciFi Vision about what viewers can expect from season two, how Pirie’s dealing with her promotion, and more.

In Xeno, Renee (Lulu Wilson), a lonely teenage girl alienated from her troubled family, stumbles across a wounded alien in the desert and forms a special bond with the creature. Led by Jonathan Keyes (Omari Hardwick), government agents race to find and secure the alien as Renee does everything she can to protect her new friend.

Hardwick recently spoke with SciFi Vision about drew him to the role, what backstory he was given into the mysterious Keyes, getting into his darker side, and more.

At the end of season one, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramse) made it to Seattle only for Joel to realize that to create a cure to the cordyceps virus, Ellie had to die, which didn’t work for him. Joel then proceeded to kill all of the Fireflies, including the doctor who was working on the cure. Season two picks up five years after the events of season one. Ellie and Joel’s relationship is strained, but we don’t know why. During a snowstorm we meet Abby (Kaitlyn Denver) when she is rescued by Joel, but unfortunately, she’s hellbent on revenge because Joel killed her father, which leads to a violent confrontation between the two. When Ellie witnesses the violence firsthand, it starts her on her own journey of revenge against Abby.

To me, the best part of season one was the relationship between Joel and Ellie. While I knew that Joel was going to die going into the second season, I didn’t expect it to be so soon. I really would have preferred the season to spend more time with the two of them together; however, I understand that they were trying overall to stay true to the original story of the games. I did appreciate though that they spent an episode with Ellie grieving, and the flashback episode with Joel was the best of the season, perhaps of both seasons. Their time at the museum really showed the connection between the Ellie and Joel. Also, I appreciated seeing the last moments between the two and getting an answer to how much Ellie was aware of Joel’s actions, which apparently doesn’t happen as early in the game, so they could have kept it until the next season, which I personally believe would have been a mistake.

A chance encounter in the desert changes everything when a teenage girl, Renee (Lulu Wilson), discovers a terrifying alien, and they form a special bond when she realizes it’s not anything she expected. Uncovering a secret that could affect both of their worlds sends them on an adventure as she, along with the help of classmate Gil (Trae Romano), race to escape government agents and protect her new friend.

Stars Wilson and Romano, as well as the writer and director of the film, Matthew Loren Oates, recently spoke with SciFi Vision about creating the movie, working with the team at Jim Henson Productions who designed the alien, and more.

The film opens in theaters nationwide starting today.

In Prisoner of War, star Scott Adkins is once again paired with director Louis Mandylor. Most of the story takes place in World War II before the infamous Bataan Death March in the Philippines. Adkins plays British SAS officer James Wright, who is captured by the Japanese and forced to fight soldiers on both sides to the death in order to amuse his captors.  This is a different take on the bravery of combat soldiers during that war. Adkins, who is a skilled fighter and actor, recently spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the martial arts film and detailed the grueling shooting schedule, conditions and more. You may recognize him from one of his many action films, including John Wick: Chapter 4.

Prisoner of War will be released in theaters and on VOD starting tomorrow.

The historical romance drama Outlander: Blood of My Blood is the prequel series to the hugely popular Outlander. A completely new story, it does not follow the book series but rather draws on the world and the characters developed in the novels. The story follows two parallel timelines. The first takes place in 18th century Scotland and follows Jamie Fraser’s future parents, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), and the second starts in early 20th century England with Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield), Claire Beauchamp’s parents. Their fates soon become intertwined when the Beauchamps travel through time.

In episode seven, which recently aired on Starz, Ellen faces humiliation and likely worse when the Grants demand proof of her virtue after receiving a letter from Lord Lovat (Tony Curran) stating she is impure. Meanwhile, Julia’s struggle with Lord Lovat escalates when he attempts to claim and name her child for his lineage.

Recently, Curran spoke with SciFi Vision about Lovat’s relationship with Julia, whether he believes her child is really his, how long the chaste berry can keep him away, his character’s relationship with his son, if he would be willing to grovel to the MacKenzies if it meant getting his power back, filming intimate scenes, and much more.
