Based on the novel by Arafair Burke, The Better Sister, which premiered yesterday on Prime Video, follows Chloe Taylor (Jessica Biel), a high-powered magazine editor whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when her husband Adam (Corey Stoll) is murdered in their Hamptons home. The tragedy forces Chloe to reunite with her estranged sister Nicky (Elizabeth Banks), who is also Adam’s ex-wife and the biological mother of their teenage son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan). As suspicion falls on Ethan and the investigation uncovers hidden family secrets, Chloe and Nicky must confront their painful past and work together to protect Ethan. Throughout the ordeal, Catherine Lancaster (Lorraine Toussaint), Chloe’s mentor and friend from her publishing world, provides crucial support and guidance, helping Chloe navigate the media storm and personal crisis that follows Adam’s death.

Recently, stars Stoll and Toussaint spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the eight-part limited series, connecting with their characters, and more.

Based on Martha Wells’ award-winning book series, Murderbot is a science fiction comedy thriller which follows a security android known as SecUnit (Alexander Skarsgård), who figured out how to hack his own governor module, gaining free will. Although now free, SecUnit, pretending to still be under corporate control, decides to stay with the group of humans who have rented him for protection, even if he would prefer to binge-watch soap operas then interact with them. In the most recent episode, the team heads across the planet to find the fate of the DeltFall team who they fear might be in danger. SecUnit arrives to find that not only has the DeltFall team been killed, but someone has also hijacked their security unit’s programming by installing a combat override module, and whoever is responsible, is still lurking nearby.

Recently, creators and writers of the series, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz, who also directed some of the episodes, spoke with SciFi Vision about bringing their version of Murderbot to life, what made them want to adapt it, their favorite parts, casting Skarsgård, and more.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter brings a new story to the franchise, this time taking place in Belgrade, Serbia. Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), a Librarian from 1847 finds himself stranded in the present-day world. Upon his arrival, he accidentally unleashes dormant magic across the country, forcing him to join forces with a new team of unlikely heroes each with their own unique skills, including a tech-savvy historian (Bluey Robinson) a scientific genius (Olivia Morris), and a formidable Guardian-in-training (Jessica Green), to recover magical artifacts and prevent the threat from spreading.

Recently, stars McGowan and Robinson spoke with SciFi Vision about entering the magical world of The Librarians: The Next Chapter, including why they wanted to be a part of it, how they prepared, and more.

When the grandson (Graham Harvey) of a fifty-year-old retired rodeo legend needs expensive life-saving surgery, ex-bull rider Joe Wainwright (Neal McDonough) decides to ride again. Facing his own painful past and his strained relationship with his headstrong daughter (Sarah Jones), he puts everything on the line as he steps into the bull-riding arena in a high-stakes competition as the oldest contestant ever. Through the journey, he mends his fractured relationship with his daughter and shows that real bravery comes from fighting for the ones you love.

Star McDonough, along with director Jon Avnet, spoke with SciFi Vision about making the film, including how the idea came about, and much more.

In Bavaria in 1865, the Rani (Archie Panjabi) visits the cabin of the Zufall family on horseback. She greets Otto Zufall (Atilla Akinci), who is the seventh son of the seventh son and himself has seven sons, his wife, Violett (Leni Adams) having just given birth to the latest. Letting them think she is the midwife, she asks to hold the baby, only to say she is taking him. When they protest, she blows on them, turning Violett into flowers, the other six children into ducks, and Otto into an owl. Taking the baby, she leaves, telling him that they have things to do in 160 years time with one very special wish.

In London in 2025, Belinda (Varada Sethu) and the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) wake up next to each other in bed and kiss each other good morning. He tells his wife he could stay there forever, but he has to go to work. Poppy (Sienna-Robyn Mavanga-Phipps), their daughter, comes in saying “meow” because she wants a cat.

Belinda turns on the television and on the screen is Conrad (Jonah Hauer-King) saying the weather across all the different countries all over the world is going to be nice, that’s his promise. Conrad says it’s time for the day’s story, holding up the book: Doctor Who and the Daily Wish, by I.M. Foreman. They move to the kitchen, and he continues on another television, talking about the Time Lord who ran away.

In season two of the crime drama Black Snow, Detective Cormack (Travis Fimmel) takes on two different missing persons cases. For work, when possible new evidence comes to light, he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (Jana McKinnon), who vanished from her own 21st birthday party in 2003. In his personal life, he searches for his own younger brother who went missing when they were both children and he now has reason to believe may be alive.

Recently, McKinnon spoke with SciFi Vision about taking on the role of Zoe, her inspiration for the character, dealing with the more emotional aspects of the story, if she knew ahead of time her character’s fate, and more.

Murderbot, the sci-fi thriller-comedy which is based on the Martha Wells’ book series, premiered yesterday on Apple TV+. Despite its new autonomy, rather than fleeing, it continues to protect a group of scientists on a dangerous alien planet while pretending to still be under corporate control. SecUnit, however, is more interested in binge-watching soap operas than interacting with the humans around it.

Recently, star Skarsgård spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series and how it was exciting to him, because it was something quite different. “Well, it just felt tonally quite unique to me, and it was a sci-fi world that I hadn't seen or read before and a character that wasn't your stereotypical protagonist,” the actor told the site, adding that the character was “not self-assured or confident but rather socially awkward.”

Skarsgård also spoke with the site about the costume, where he pulled inspiration from besides the book and script for his portrayal, and more.

In the all-new episode of Doctor Who, “The Interstellar Song Contest,” which dropped hours ago on Disney Plus, the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda (Varada Sethu) arrive on the Harmony Arena Space Station where they are hosting the galactic music competition filled with entertainers from around the universe. Belinda, who up until this point has been keen to get home as soon as possible, decides to stay for some fun, but unfortunately it becomes a night she won’t soon forget when they must battle to survive the event that could kill a whopping three trillion.

This week’s episode was a really fun one. From the fantastically crazy array of alien species to the brightly colored costumes, to the outrageous original music (I think I’ll probably have “Dugga Doo” in my head for awhile), the over-the-top spectacle was grand, like a Met Gala on steroids. It definitely showed how much money Disney is putting into the production, and it really worked well in this instance. As an American, I may never have seen Eurovision, but I appreciated that they got Rylan Clark to be the host of the fictitious expanded event and even had the hilarious Graham Norton appear as a hologram. I could easily imagine how it could become something like this in the distant future. In addition, it’s neat that the episode is airing the same day as the final part of the real counterpart.

In the year 2925 at the Harmony Arena, a female cat-like alien, Sabine (Julie Dray), introduces the immortal Rylan (Rylan Clark) as host of the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest, who walks out to a cheering crowd.

The TARDIS materializes in one of the VIP viewing booths. The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) brings out the Vindicator and sets it up as Belinda (Varada Sethu) takes in the arena, surprised to see Rylan, who explains to the audience that forty finalists from forty different worlds will be singing. Belinda quickly says they are staying, and the Doctor readily agrees.

Rylan says from the stage that the show is transmitted live to an audience of three trillion life forms to find one winner.

Meanwhile, backstage in the gallery, the crew works to run the show and cues the confetti canon. An ad goes up on holograms in the audience for the sponsors of the show, Poppy Honey, which it says is cultivated from 100% organic golden poppy.

NBC’s Night Court follows unapologetic optimist Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch), daughter of the late Judge Harry Stone from the original series, as she takes over the night shift at a Manhattan arraignment court, determined to honor her father’s legacy. The season three finale, “A Decent Proposal,” which aired on Tuesday, features guest star Raegan Revord, who is best known for her role as Sheldon’s twin sister Missy Cooper on the CBS series Young Sheldon. Revord plays the character of Shelby, a teen runaway set on marrying her soulmate. The episode serves as a homage to an episode of the original series that featured Michael J. Fox.
