Exclusive: Jade Hassouné Talks Shadowhunters

ShadowhuntersLast week Freeform's Shadowhunters, which is based on the Cassandra Clare book series, The Mortal Instruments, introduced the character of Meliorn. The actor who plays the faerie knight, Jade Hassouné, recently talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his work on the show.

The actor auditioned for other roles on the series before he got Meliorn, which he thinks was perfect for him. "It was an audition, just a regular audition. I got to audition for Alaric first, and from that I got a call back about a week later for Raphael Santiago, and then a week later for Meliorn, and by that point I'd really delved into it, and I think Meliorn was the perfect one. And from that audition, I got a call back, which was my final call back.

"And then it happened really, really fast. I mean, the whole process took about a month, but then everything happened really, really quickly after that. You know, after that, I was on set probably about a week later.

The X-Files - Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster - 10.03 - Post Mortem

The X-FilesI've already posted a spoiler-free review of the episode, but now that it's aired I wanted to include some more specific thoughts before moving onto the full recap below, which includes quotes.

The X-Files
delivers a classic in this week’s comedic episode. Whether you're a diehard fan of The X-Files or not, episode three, "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster," should delight you. It's one of the trademark quirky, funny episodes. Even better, if you are a fan, you'll love it for all the references/injokes to previous moments on the show.

Darin Morgan did an excellent job with the script. Scully says it perfectly in the episode, “Oh yeah, this is how I like my Mulder.” The episode truly feels like it could fit somewhere into the old series (minus the technology jokes, which were so funny), as the show hits its stride again, making the episode an instant classic.

The episode focuses on a man-sized lizard, who after being bit by a man, turns into a human. The were-lizard is brilliantly played by guest star Rhys Darby.

Kumail Nanjiani, who guest stars as Pasha, is also very funny in the episode, especially when he is acting alongside David Duchovny.

Advance Review: The X-Files Delivers a Classic Dose of Quirky Comedy

The X-FilesThis Monday The X-Files takes a comedic turn as “Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-monster.” The duo is called in to investigate what may be a serial killer, an animal attack, or something else altogether when witnesses claim they saw a monster.

The episode, written brilliantly by Darin Morgan, is a step back into the quirky and silly episodes of the original. The series was always able to poke fun of itself in the best ways. The episode is not only a throwback to the original series as it is filled with references and injokes, but an excellent story in its own right.

Exclusive: Alberto Rosende Talks Shadowhunters

Alberto RosendeRecently Freeform (previously ABC Family) premiered it's new series Shadowhunters, based on characters from the book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The series follows Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), who discovers that she is part of a long line of half-human half-angel demon hunters called Shadowhunters. She, along with her mundane, or human, friend, Simon Lewis, played by Alberto Rosende, are pulled into this new and dangerous world.

Recently, Rosende talked to Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision in an exclusive interview about his work on the series.

The actor became a fan of The Mortal Instruments book series after having started reading them for his audition. "I originally intended only to read the first one before the audition to kind of understand who Simon was in the world, but a funny thing happened; my audition got pushed a week back. So I had an extra week, and I'd already finished the first book, so I decided to keep reading, and then I finished the second one. So by the time I got to the audition, I was already half way through the third book. I just kept burning through them after that. I finished them about four episodes into the show; I finished all six."

The X-Files - Founder's Mutation - Post Mortem

The X-FilesFollowing the review is a very detailed recap of the episode, including quotes.

The X-Fies returns with a monster-of-the-week for it's second episode of the season. This episode, which is about eugenics and psychokinesis, fits into the classically creepy episodes that the show is known for. That being said, it does bring in some connections with the mythology, which I appreciated, such as talking about alien-human hybrids, and of course the discussion of William.

There were a lot of good moments in the episode. One that sticks out is Skinner helping the agents out, telling them that it will take awhile to close out the case, basically giving them more time before the DOD will put a stop to their investigation.

The X-Files - My Struggle - 10.01 - Post Mortem

The X-FilesI've already posted a spoiler-free review of the episode, but now that it's aired I wanted to include some more specific thoughts before moving onto the full recap below, which includes quotes.

Even after seeing the premiere episode a couple times by this point, I still loved the episode, and there is a lot to love about it. The main thing is that "My Struggle" really makes you stop and think. I love how it completely twists a lot of the mythology on its ear. I'm still thinking about it. I'm not entirely sure what to even think completely yet, however. It's hard to reconcile that I have followed nine years' worth of a story that may turn out to be untrue, and that aliens were never even part of the conspiracy. Yet at the same time, that's what the plot has always done, twist and turn. We still don't even really know if the new information Mulder has found is true, but even if it is, who's to say that a lot of the characters besides just Mulder and Scully weren't also in the dark about what truly happened? They could have been lied to as well. It just adds a lot to think about, which is what this show is great at doing.
