Government Cheese, which recently premiered on Apple TV+, is a surrealist comedy-drama series set in 1969. The series follows Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo), a convicted burglar who is released from prison and returns to his home in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. Hampton reunites with his family and attempts to start over by inventing the "Bit Magician," a self-sharpening power drill. However, the unconventional structure the Chambers family, including his wife, Astoria, and his sons, Einstein (Evan Ellison) and Harrison (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), formed in his absence, complicates matters.

The series also stars Bokeem Woodbine as Bootsy, Hampton's childhood friend and former partner in crime, who operates on his own unique moral code and plays a significant role in Hampton's attempts to carry out one last heist, adding more complexity to his attempts to rebuild his life.

Woodbine recently spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series.

In 1952, the pre-film clips play in the Palazzo cinema of the latest atom bomb test on the Gaumont British News as a few people in the audience watch. Up in the projection booth, a man (Linus Roache) stirs his drink and leaves the metal spoon on the table. He goes into the other room and chooses a film reel which he then sets up to play. It’s a cartoon featuring Mr. Ring-a-Ding (voiced by Alan Cumming). A blue-skin cartoon character is approached by a female character with yellow skin (voiced by Millie O'Connell) who asks who he is. He says, “Don’t make me laugh!” He then starts singing that he’s Mr. Ring-a-Ding. The moonlight shines down through the skylight in the projection booth and hits the spoon on the table, bouncing up onto a poster then floating like dust into the light from the projector and down onto the screen. Mr. Ring-a-Ding asks the girl her name, and she says it’s Sunshine Sally. He says not to give him sunshine, because he’s more interested in moonlight, that icy cold beam of Heaven touching his sole and giving him life. He asks people in the audience what they think and then talks directly to a man in the audience. He says if he won’t tell him he’ll have to find out for himself. He says they are going 3-D as he climbs out through the screen and repeats again not to make him laugh.

The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) talks to Belinda (Varada Sethu) as he works under the console of the TARDIS. He questions she left Earth May 24, 2025, which is the one time the TARDIS can’t reach. He tries to move them again, and they bounce off the date. She questions he can’t get it fixed and says that he’s a Time Lord, to “take it back to Time Lordia; they must have garages.” He says he wishes it was called that, but Gallifrey. She says to go there, and he just says not today. The Doctor says he never asked her, but who does she have: a girlfriend, boyfriend, other friend? She says she has her mom and dad. Her father works in taxes and her mother is a violinist in the orchestra.

Towards Zero, the three-part murder mystery television series directed by Sam Yates, concludes today on Britbox. Originally airing on BBC One in March, the series was adapted by Rachel Bennett from Agatha Christie’s 1944 novel of the same name. Set against the backdrop of coastal England in 1936, after a scandalous divorce, tennis star Neville Strange (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) and his ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland) make the shocking choice to spend the summer together at Gull’s Point, the estate overseen by Neville’s aunt, Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston). The uneasy gathering is made even more volatile by Neville’s new wife, Kay (Mimi Keene), along with a group of guests including a stoic lady’s companion (Anjana Vasan), a mysterious gentleman’s valet (Adam Hugill), an exiled cousin (Jack Farthing), the family lawyer (Clarke Peter), an inquisitive orphan (Grace Doherty), and a scheming con man (Khalil Ben Gharbia), each with their own secrets and grudges. As tensions escalate, murder disrupts the tenuous peace. A detective (Matthew Rhys), battling his own demons, must piece together the clues in a complex case of jealousy and betrayal and expose the truth before the killer strikes again.

The final two episodes of the police procedural Bosch: Legacy premieres today on Prime Video. The series, which is a sequel to the original Bosch, which ended in 2021, follows Titus Welliver as former LAPD Detective Harry Bosch who has retired from the force and now works as a private investigator. The series also stars Mimi Rogers as Honey “Money Chandler,” who often collaborates with Bosch on various cases, as well as his daughter Maddie (Madison Linz), who now works as a patrol officer with the LAPD at the Hollywood Station where her father used to be assigned.

In the penultimate episode, Bosch gets help from an old war buddy to take down Finbar McShane (Michael Reilly Burke), then in the finale, he teams with LAPD Detective Renee Ballard (Maggie Q) to solve a case dealing with the “flower girls” serial killer before another victim is claimed.

Recently, Welliver spoke with SciFi Vision during a press junket about what he’d love to get to see from Bosch if he ever returned to the screen and how the character has changed him.

The world is run by the rich and powerful who take whatever they want without consequence, but the Leverage Crew has returned for an all-new high energy third season of Leverage: Redemption, determined to fight for those who have nowhere else to turn. This season they they head to Paris for a heist that leads them to fight a power broker stealing clean water from communities to make a fortune, as well as face off closer to home against a corrupt mayor who’s literally both the judge and jury of the town. They beat a cunning mark who finally catches up to them in the middle of a con, outwit a pool hustler with ties to international crime, and even bring down an industrialist exploiting child labor. Amid these high-stakes cons the team must also dodge a complex revenge plot from an enemy from season one all while navigating the shifting dynamics of their evolving personal lives.

SciFi Vision recently spoke with Christian Kane, who stars as Eliot Spencer, and Gina Bellman, who stars as Sophie Devereaux. The two spoke about the genre-bending third season, their fantastic costumes this time around, their love of acting, being directed by Beth Riesgraf, and much more.

Recently, stars Jackson-Cohen and Hyland spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series, including building their characters’ relationship and how it was partially inspired by the relationship of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, working with costumes, and more.

The series Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which was created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, revolves around four members of a suburban gardening club in the affluent Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. These members share a dark and murderous secret, which they must keep hidden while navigating their personal and professional lives. The main characters include Birdie (Melissa Fumero), the newest member of the garden society; Catherine (Aja Naomi King), a married real-estate agent; Brett (Ben Rappaport), a divorced father and manager of the gardening club; and Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), a high-school teacher.

Ford, who is portrayed by Felix Wolfe, is Birdie's biological son, who she gave up for adoption when she was just a teenager. As part of her community service after a DUI, but also a way to see Ford, she offered him a scholarship for college and has been trying to get to know him without telling him her true identity.

In the most recent episode, which aired Friday on NBC, Ford confronts Birdie, having realized she likely is his biological mother, and he asks her the truth, but she still holds back, making him angry.

The second episode of the season of Doctor Who, “Lux,” which was once again written by Russell T. Davies, takes the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda (Varada Sethu) on their next adventure together when the TARDIS spits them out in Miami 1952. Still unable to figure out why they can’t return Belinda to the time she left, she agrees to take a detour and check out what it can be like traveling with the Doctor.

On exiting the TARDIS they happen upon the abandoned cinema, the Palazzo Picture Palace, where fifteen people have vanished never to be heard from again. Investigating, they discover an enemy that isn’t as two-dimension as he seems, when the cartoon, Mr. Ring-A-Ding (voiced by the marvelous Alan Cumming), steps out of the screen.

Blending a cartoon villain with real people can go either way, but overall, to me, the episode was a positive experience. The adventure was so much fun, and there was a lot to really enjoy about this episode. Doctor Who is often quirky and this episode is exactly that, and it’s something very different. There were some bits with them escaping the cartoon, while corny it had me chuckling. Also, as a fan, there were parts of this episode that I absolutely loved, because one scene is full to the brim with Easter eggs, like so many my head was spinning, and I plan to break down all of them after the episode airs. Aside from the in jokes, I also was pleased to see continuity in the episode, pulling in some pieces from season one and the previous specials that I won’t spoil.

The American crime drama Godfather of Harlem returns tomorrow to MGM Plus. The series stars Forest Whitaker as Bumpy Johnson, a 1960s New York City gangster who returns from ten years in prison to find his neighborhood in shambles and must fight for control of Harlem against the mafia families of New York.

Rome Flynn, who joins the cast as a new gangster, Frank Lucas, comes in as someone new for Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) and Joe Colombo (Michael Raymond James) to contend with in the fourth season. Like Bumpy and Joe, Lucas was a real-life gangster who later became a famous kingpin. This season, Lucas is just starting out in the "big time" and grappling with who he is and what it might cost him to continue in his life of crime.

Flynn started out in his acting career playing Zende in the CBS daytime soaps The Bold and the Beautiful for two years, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award.  He went on from there to various featured roles in ABC's How to Get Away with Murder, OWN's The Haves and the Have Nots, NBC's Chicago Fire and Netflix's Raising Dion.
