An all-new episode of the mockumentary sitcom St. Denis Medical airs tonight on NBC. The series, created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin follows the daily life of overworked doctors and nurses working at an underfunded hospital.

Kaliko Kauahi plays the role of Val, a nurse administrator with a surly no-nonsense additude. She’s known for her tough exterior and her ability to handle the chaotic environment of the hospital while staying calm and collected.

Kauahi recently spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series, whether she’d like to see Val finally lose her cool, and more.
