The crime thriller Cross, which is based on the characters from James Patterson’s best-selling Alex Cross novels, stars Aldis Hodge in the title role. The series, which takes place over eight episodes, follows the iconic detective and forensic psychologist who digs into the minds of serial killers and their victims to track down killers. In season one, Cross investigates a serial killer while dealing with his own personal trauma, including the loss of his wife.

SciFi Vision recently spoke with stars Samantha Walkes, who plays Cross’s love interest, Elle Monteiro, and Alona Tal, who plays Special Agent Kayla Craig, about working on the series, connecting with their characters, working with Hodge, and more.

Recently, season one of Cross premiered worldwide on Prime Video. The series, which is adapted from James Patterson’s best-selling Alex Cross book series, was created by showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins. Cross also stars Isaiah Mustafa as Detective John Sampson, Cross’s partner at the D.C. Metro Police Department. Recently, Mustafa spoke with the press about working on the series.

Although the actor was “very aware” of his character from the books, he didn’t pull anything from it. “I wanted to give [Ben Watkins] just the respect of creating this character solely based off of what he came up with in his scripts and also based off of the discussion he and I had about the character and who he was,” Mustafa told SciFi Vision.

Earth Abides, which premieres tonight on MGM+, is based on the novel of the same name by George R. Stewart. In the post-apocalyptic miniseries, a virulent plague spreads across the globe, nearly eradicating the human population. As the remnants of civilization gradually deteriorates, a small group of broken survivors struggle to navigate their new existence and resist the looming threat of extinction.

Recently, Alexander Ludwig, who stars as Ish, and Jessica Frances Dukes, who stars as Emma, spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series, including approaching roles that span a large number of years, what the experience taught them, and more.

An all-new episode of Outlander premiered yesterday on STARZ. In the episode, while Jamie (Sam Heughan) stayed in Scotland with his godfather, Ian’s father (Steven Cree), Young Ian (John Bell) accompanied Claire (Caitríona Balfe) to Philadelphia so she could perform surgery on Lord John Grey’s nephew. While there, Ian’s passionate reunion with Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) was marred by a violent confrontation with Arch Bug (Hugh Ross), but they were ultimately saved by William (Charles Vandervaart)’s intervention.

Robert Palmer Watkins stars as Greg in the new sci-fi mystery thriller, Trapped Inn. The movie takes place high in the remote mountains in Europe during cycling training camp. When their teammates start to mysteriously die, it’s up to the two rivals, Greg and Connor (Matt Rife), who must work together to survive and find out what is killing their friends.

Yesterday, the season three finale of FROM premiered on MGM+. The series follows a group of residents of a town that cannot leave and try to live a normal existence while being plagued by dangers not only from the forest surrounding the town, but also from nightmarish creatures that roam and kill at night.

In the final episode of the season, everyone is getting desperate searching for the pregnant Fatima, who has been kidnapped by Elgin after listening to the visions he has of “Kimono Woman.” Boyd, fearing for his daughter-in-law, decides to force Elgin to tell them where he is keeping her by torturing him. Before he can do so, he sees a vision of Father Khatri telling him that if he goes to that point, he can’t come back from it. Boyd ignores Khatri.

Recently, Shaun Majumder spoke with SciFi Vision at length about working on the series, including what he thinks Boyd’s visions of his character actually are, if Boyd can actually come back from what he did, working with Harold Perrineau in the scenes of the season finale, the series questions he’d like to know the answer to, and much more.

Tonight, FROM closed out the third season as promised answering big questions. The episode was fast-paced but also left a lot of time for emotional character scenes.

The search for Fatima is of course the main part of the story. I was glad that Ellis picked up on Elgin’s deception right away. I still wonder though that Elgin, since he does seem to be such a nice guy, didn’t at all question what he was doing or that it could hurt Fatima. At least Sara didn’t want to kill Ethan, regardless that she tried to. Elgin almost seems to be under a spell.

I was really surprised that Boyd went through with torturing Elgin to find out Fatima’s location. I appreciated that Father Khatri showed up to attempt to get him to think it through, regardless of whether he’s actually in Boyd’s mind or not. I’m honestly not sure if Boyd can come back after this. He really in my opinion crossed a line and is completely unraveling. What surprised me more though was that so many people stood by and let it happen, especially Kenny and Donna. I expected them to try to stop Boyd. Regardless, the scenes were very powerful and I found it almost hard to watch, because Harold Perrineau is so brilliantly scary in the scenes. In this instance, when Acosta (Dani!) comes into Colony House, she is the voice of reason, and I think it’s also super important that she stands up to Boyd when no one else does. In the end though I loved that Sara took over and what she said to Elgin. She really believes it’s too late for her, and I do believe she really was trying to protect Boyd. I also enjoyed the previous foreshadowing of what she did to Elgin. As soon as she picked up the screwdriver, I remembered Jade’s vision of the man with the railroad spike through his eye and knew that’s where it was going. So many things in this town are cyclical. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that something similar happened to him in the past.

FROM takes place in a town where anyone who enters becomes trapped. The residents grapple with trying to live normal lives while also dealing with dangers from the forest surrounding the town as well as the monstrous creatures that emerge at night.

In the season finale, Ellis and the others continue the search for his wife, Fatima, only to find her after she has given birth to something not quite human.

Corteon Moore recently discussed his character Ellis with SciFi Vision, revealing the emotional turmoil his character faced this season. Moore described Ellis’s journey from expecting to become a father to discovering the truth about the baby as “heartbreaking.” He shared, “I remember when I first found out that Ellis was potentially going to be a dad, or at least at that time that Ellis was going to be a dad, I remember feeling weirdly very excited and happy…and then to go through that period of like, ‘Oh, my God, there actually is no baby,’ that really was heartbreaking.”

The revelation that the baby was actually a creature known as Smiley has fueled Ellis’s anger towards the monsters. Moore expressed Ellis’s determination, saying, “I think Ellis is going to lead a war against Smiley and all of his constituents, because I think this is just too far.”

The season three finale of FROM was released to stream at midnight on MGM+. The series takes place in a small town that traps all unsuspecting visitors, forcing them to try to live out a normal life in the town while dealing not only with threats from the surrounding forest, but also with nightmare creatures that emerge and kill at night.

In a recent episode, the character of Donna (Elizabeth Saunders) at first disagrees with Boyd (Harold Perrineau) about hiding the fact from the town that Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) is the one who murdered Tillie (Deborah Grover). In a recent interview with SciFi Vision, star Saunders spoke to how Donna might handle the situation herself and her potential as a leader in comparison to Boyd. “I think she’s right in that people aren’t believing him,” said the actress, referring to Boyd’s diminishing credibility among the townsfolk. However, she also pointed out that Donna’s judgment is influenced by her personal feelings towards him. “It’s really hard for me to say if Donna would be better [at leading] at this point,” she admitted, acknowledging the immense pressure both characters face. “I think she’s cracking too…So, I don't agree with the decisions he's making, but on the other hand, where would Donna find herself given the circumstances in terms of making the right decisions? Because it's almost impossible to make one right now in this.”

Saunders described how Donna is experiencing significant stress due to ongoing challenges, such as food shortages and increasingly bizarre threats from the monsters. “This season has really taken it out of her,” she explained, noting that despite her strength, Donna is pushed to her limits. “I don’t know how much it takes to actually completely break her down,” she said, suggesting that while Donna may crumble under pressure, she always manages to bounce back.
