The season three finale of FROM premiered tonight at midnight on MGM+. The series takes place in a town that once you enter, you can’t leave. The residents deal with learning to live a normal life while also surviving threats from the surrounding forest, as well as the nightmare creatures that come out at night.

In the episode, while the town continues their search for Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori), which ends in a shocking birth, Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade figure out the meaning of the numbers from the bottle tree and how they are connected to Miranda and Christopher. In a shocking end, Tabitha’s husband, Jim (Eion Bailey) is murdered by the Man in Yellow.

In a recent interview with SciFi Vision, star Sandino Moreno delved into the complexities of her character. With the shocking events of the season finale, Sandino Moreno reflected on how Tabitha might grapple with the emotional fallout from her husband Jim’s brutal death. “I think it’s going to be super sad, and it’s just awful that he died. I’m so upset,” she admitted, acknowledging the weight of this loss on her character. The actress expressed curiosity about how Tabitha will navigate her grief in the future.

The interview also touched on Tabitha’s evolving relationship with Jade, a character who provides the understanding and support that Jim often lacked. “I think it's very interesting, because Jade is the kind of person that she needs in her life right now,” said the actress, describing Jade as someone who shares in Tabitha’s experiences without questioning her reality. “He just understands what she's going through in a different way…Jade believes and understands that the world that they’re in right now is bigger than them,” she explained. This connection is crucial for Tabitha as she embarks on a journey of discovery alongside Jade, seeking answers to the mysteries surrounding their town.

When discussing themes of hope within the series, and if they can change the outcome of events that have repeated, the actress passionately conveyed its significance: “How can you lose hope? I think hope is the one thing that drives you to keep trying to survive.” She emphasized that hope fuels their determination to uncover the truth, despite the cyclical nature of their struggles.

Additionally, Sandino Moreno praised her collaboration with Scott McCord, who plays Victor. Their scenes together showcase a beautiful motherly bond. “She’s such a motherly figure…I just feel that it just makes total sense that she's Miranda. She's loving and caring.”

SCIFI VISION:   My first question is, obviously, you know, they played the music and everything, and she did what she needed to do to find out [what was happening], but Jim told her not to. He asked her not to a couple of times, and she kind of talked him into being okay with it them finding out what was going on in the very end. Then, he got killed. I mean, obviously, you don't know what's going to happen, but how do you think she's going to feel? Is she going to be blaming herself at all because they went through with everything? I mean I don't know that that necessarily was what caused it, but she might think that.

[CATALINA SANDINO MORENO:   I'm not sure what's going to happen in season four. I'm not sure where are they going to go. That's something that we usually find out as soon as we get the scripts, as you may know. I'm very, very curious to see if we have season four. I'm not saying that we are, but if we do have season four, I am very curious to know where they're going to take that storyline. What's going to happen with - I know that she probably is going to embark [on] this discovery thing with Jade.

But how is she going to feel to - I don't know if she's going to know that Julie was - you know, it's just too confusing for me to think that right now. But hey, it's her husband, and I think it's not going to be a nice thing for her to know that her husband died and in a brutal way. So, I think it's going to be super sad, and it's just awful that he died. I'm so upset.

SCIFI VISION:   We all are. So, talk about her relationship with Jade, because obviously they've had kind of this connection, and now they find out they have an even bigger connection, that they've been together all these times. And, I mean, do you think he will be the one that will kind of, I guess, pick up some of those pieces after she finds all that out?

[CATALINA SANDINO MORENO:   I think it's very interesting, because Jade is the kind of person that she needs in her life right now. Like he's the one that everything that happens to her instead of being so rationalized like Jim, he's like, “Yeah, I saw that too.” And he just understands what she's going through in a different way.

Jim doesn't understand what she went through. I mean, like, the first time she goes down to the tunnels, and then she comes out and is like, “I saw the monsters with my eyes,” Jim was like, “Did you really? I don't think that you did.” So, there's always that question that Jim questions her about the things that she's going through, and Jade doesn't. Jade believes and understands that the world that they're in right now is bigger than them.

It is something that they need to figure it out together. It's something that he cannot do by himself. And as you could see in, I think it’s that next episode, you know, they figured out the notes and everything is there for a reason. Nothing is gratuitous in that world.

So, I think it's going to be a great connection between her and Jade and the discovery of what this place means and how can they go back home?

SCIFI VISION:   Do you think that they should still keep hope? Like, do you think they're going to lose some hope? Because I think about the idea that they've said that [they’ve] tried to save [the children] over and over and over, and it's never worked. And there's kind of this cyclical nature to the whole place. I mean, do you think that they still have a reason to hope that they can maybe change it this time?

[CATALINA SANDINO MORENO:   I mean, how can you lose hope? I think hope is the one thing that drives you to keep trying to survive, to keep discovering. If you lose hope, then you won't, I mean, you just, there's nothing to live for. There's nothing to find. There's nothing, and that need of discovery, I think, comes from hope. It comes from like, “We're going to figure it out. We have a big clue that happened, and now we're together in this journey. We're going to fucking do it.”

SCIFI VISION:   Talk about working with Scott McCord, because these scenes with you and Victor are really beautiful in these last few episodes, her kind of being his mother and helping him out a little bit.

[CATALINA SANDINO MORENO:   I mean, I work with Scott great. [My] friend in real life, like we talk all the time. He's such a beautiful, gentle human that at the beginning when we started working together, I remember we [were] discussing that this relationship is very motherly without even knowing what they had waiting for us at the end of the season.

And she's such a motherly figure. She's caring. I feel that, you know, when people talk about my character, like, “Oh, you're the mother from that show.” It's like, “Yes, I am”. And part of being the mother of that show is, you know, mother, not just of my children, but like [for] someone that has been looked down [upon] for so long. He's like the weirdo of the town. Like, “he doesn't know anything.” And I just feel that it just makes total sense that she's Miranda. She's loving and caring.

And every time she's with Victor, she treats him with care, and when he doesn't know, and when he's freaking out, I think it’s just something that she does with him and tries to calm him down, and I think that's beautiful.
