Based on the book series of the same name by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, The Spiderwick Chronicles premieres today on The Roku Channel. The series follows follows Helen Grace (Joy Bryant), her 15-year-old fraternal twin-sons, Jared (Lyon Daniels) and Simon (Noah Cottrell), and her daughter Mallory (Mychala Lee), as they move from Brooklyn, New York to their ancestral home, the Spiderwick Estate, in Henson, Michigan. At Spiderwick, Jared discovers that magical creatures are real, but the only one who believes him is his great-aunt Lucinda (Charlayne Woodard), who tells him that he needs to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures to protect them from the evil ogre, Mulgarath (Christian Slater).

Recently, Slater and Bryant spoke with SciFi Vision about working on the series, including what made them want to do it, what they’ve learned from working on the series, and more.
