Tomorrow, Earpers will be rejoicing when Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano) and Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) return to their screens in Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, this time on Tubi. The special picks up with the team split up, with Wynonna and Doc making their way through casinos to get enough money together so they can settle down and build a place that they can bring their daughter, Alice, who’s been kept away to stay safe. Meanwhile, Waverly (Dominque Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) are happily married back in the Ghost River Triangle, but as per usual, nothing is normal in Purgatory. There is a new demon threat in town (Karen Knox), and she makes sure Wynonna takes notice.

Last week, stars Scrofano and Rozon talked with SciFi Vision about the special, which they both had a great time making. Scrofano described the process as “living the dream,” while Rozon said it felt fresh but also “felt like home.” The two talked about where the characters are at at the start of the season, the atmosphere on set coming back, how easy it was getting back into the roles, if they’re satisfied with the new ending, if the show could be coming back again, and much more.

SCIFI VISION:   To start off, what was it like coming back to set? Especially because also, did it feel different? Because obviously the set was struck. You know, things have been sold off. So what was it like coming back? What was that atmosphere like?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Tim, am I wrong? Was it this [set], but the set actually got eaten by rats? Or was that another year?

TIM ROZON:   I have no idea. Why am I learning all this cool shit? Now you're telling me. Did you know Mel was in Robocop? Because I just found out in the last one. Then I found out our sets were eaten by rats. I don’t know that story. I don’t understand. I don't get any gossip anymore.

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Well, yeah, we had no we had no sets either way. So, that was fun. Like, if there’s anything our show does well, it's a challenge. So, it almost was like, “Yeah, so another challenge. What else?” That's what we do best. So, it felt right that we had to kind of get scrappy, and the homestead was hilarious, because it doesn't look the same inside.

SCIFI VISION:   It's crafty, though, so it works, right?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Exactly.

SCIFI VISION:   What about for you, Tim?

TIM ROZON:   I mean, it was fresh. Listen, this was one of those things where it's like, I heard it could be happening. I was also trying to help make it happen. Then I didn't hear anything, and then, from getting the script to being on set was the quickest of any project I've ever been on. So, it was like a whole whirlwind or whatever. Then, all of a sudden, it just was, like, super fresh and super new. And we weren't on set; we were on location. You know, Mel and I are in a casino, an actual casino with casino things going on while we're filming. Then, we started filming, and I looked across, and Mel is Wynonna, and I was like, “Okay, oh, this. We can do this.” So, at the same time, as different and fresh as it felt, it also felt like home and the same and just really good.

SCIFI VISION:   That was sort of my next question. Was it hard at all for either of you at all getting back into the characters, or did it just feel really easy?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   I didn't think it would feel easy, but it was the easiest thing in the world. I think once we got there - and again, it's not just the cast who make [the show] and Emily [Andras] and Paulo [Barzman], our director, it's the crew as well. It's the sets. It's the set design. It's those pieces. When you step into a Wynonna Earp set, it is Wynonna Earp, and no matter what the set is, it's got details that transport you to our world. Even in the special, we have sets that are new, and you're like, “Yeah, this makes total sense.” So, in that sense, it was the easiest thing in the world.

SCIFI VISION:   Same for you, then, Tim? It was easy?

TIM ROZON:   Yeah, one hundred percent, and it felt also super special too. Like it was just so easy to get back into it, because Emily was there on set this time, and Josh Van Houdt, our producer extraordinaire, our network exec extraordinaire, who's followed us throughout Wynonna Earp’s journey was there. It just felt like we're hanging out with our friends, yeah, and making a TV show, and then kind of hanging out with their friends. We were having dinner at the end of each week, the three of us, you, me and Paolo, and [we] would kind of talk about the week. So, I don't know. It was like hanging out with my friends while making a TV show, and it was super fun.

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Literally living the dream. Like, that's what you want.

SCIFI VISION:   Talk about where your characters are at at the start of the show, because obviously there's a lot of misunderstandings. I mean, obviously they love each other, but they're not necessarily communicating really well. What are you allowed to say [about that]?

TIM ROZON:   I think that's what it is. It's just they don't say the things they should. You know, I think they want to, I just don't know why they don't. I honestly don't know why they don't, and then, I do, you know, at the end of the day, even as much as they want to maybe do certain things or live a certain life or a certain fairy tale or whatever, Wynonna’s burdened with being the hero, and she's always going to be literally pulled back or dragged back from hell to sometimes have to fight, whether she wants to or not. So, it's like we're trying to find happiness for these people. It's just so hard for me to ever see Wynonna finding happiness. I think that's why I love the show so much. I love that character. I love watching her struggle so much, because you want it for her so bad. I just don't think there's a way to get it. I just don't see [it] that way. The hero's burning man.

SCIFI VISION:   This is one of the fan questions I got. Are there any scenes that you're allowed to tease, that you are excited for people to see, that you can talk about specifically?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Yeah, like, I want people to guess whose butt is showing in the casino. Is it mine or is it Tim’s? I don't know.

SCIFI VISION:   [laughs] What about you, Tim, is there any that you can think of that won't spoil, that you can tease a bit?

TIM ROZON:   Yeah, I’m so so, so curious to see everybody's reaction to this special. I mean, I really, really want to know. I mean, we're very aware of the fan base and what it means to everybody, and I also want the people who've never seen this show before to turn on Tubi and be like, “What the — is this?!” in the best way possible and just hopefully be drawn into our crazy, batshit world that we love.

SCIFI VISION:   I know when the series ended, obviously everyone was upset it ended, but it had a pretty satisfying ending. We’re you both satisfied [by this ending]? Also, considering there is that comment even in the trailer about a reboot, I gotta ask, is there any possibility that there could be more?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Was that what that meant?

SCIFI VISION:   We hope that's what that meant!

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Real quick. What is the difference between a reunion and a re[boot]? Oh, a [reboot] I get it. Oh, my God! [laughs] I get it. Holy shit. Sorry, I think I forgot the question, but only because, Tim, do you want to go first and then I'll catch up?

TIM ROZON:  

I didn't. I missed the reboot thing too. So my mind's -

MELANIE SCROFANO:   Because a reunion means you just get together once. But a reboot is more!

TIM ROZON:   Yeah, yeah.

SCIFI VISION:   So, is is there any possibility, and I guess, if you can't tell me that, I assume you both would be down for it, if there was a possibility? Let's say that, then. [laughs]

TIM ROZON:   Listen, I was so happy and so proud of the way we left season four. We ended it, and I look at Doc's arc, like, selfishly, for myself, and I'm like, “Man, this character had the best arc of everybody, just the journey I got to go on to finally…I landed in the perfect place,” to be honest, on the back of that bike, holding on to Wynonna. I was like, “This is all you could ask for. What else can you ask for after what this character's been through? This is great.” Then, the opportunity comes to come back. Obviously, I want to be back. Where we left it now, yeah, I think I liked it even more. It's like the slogan of our show for so long was “make your peace.” For me, I think in Doc, in a lot of ways, he does in the special, you know what I mean? That's all I ever want for anybody, to find their peace in life. Find your peace of mind, your spirit, or whatever it is; find that quietness, and just find that. Then, yeah, hell yeah, I want to do more. I'll always want to do more. Spending the day here with Mel, talking to you guys about the show again, I realized, shit, how much do I love this show and this character and my costar? Like, I want to go do it again. Sign me up.

SCIFI VISION:   How do you feel? Are you satisfied with the second ending that you got?

MELANIE SCROFANO:   …I loved the way we finished see season four, and at the time, I was like, “Why would we mess with this?” Like, I honestly, it was beautiful. It's perfect, but life goes on, and if life goes on, then that perfection passes, and then you get to the next trauma. That's what life is, and that's what's interesting, not the perfection that is unattainable and impermanent. And when we get to see the people we love face new challenges, even if it's together, it's the greatest gift, because if it just kept being perfect, we wouldn't have a special. So, I totally did a one-eighty, and now I love that we came back and that we messed with it, because at the end of season four, it’s not like time stopped, you know? So, now we get to see the happily ever after be what it actually is.

SCIFI VISION:   That's fair. Well, I hope you, you you get to come back again. We do need to wrap, but are you guys going to do anything social media wise? People are asking me that, are you going to be tweeting or anything? I hope so. You usually do.

MELANIE SCROFANO:   I think Timbo is working, and I don't know. I don't know. If I’m not working, I’ll totally tweet a tweet.
