Dark Winds continues the story of Navajo Tribal Police officers Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) as they take on violent crimes on the reservation.

Season four, which premiered yesterday on AMC and AMC+ focuses the disappearance of a Navajo girl. The investigation pulls them from the reservation into Los Angeles, where they confront an obsessive killer connected to organized crime. As the case expands, the officers must operate outside their usual jurisdiction in a race to bring her home. Meanwhile, Chee and Bernadette navigate the effects of their relationship on their jobs.
