Michael Cyril Creighton plays beloved character Howard Morris in the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. In season three, Creighton joined as a series regular although he has been a part of OMITB since season one. Recently, SciFi Vision spoke with Creighton who shared what his character is up to on season four in the notorious Arconia Building.

During the interview Creighton spilled that Howard Morris is figuring out what he is good at in this season. Viewers will get to see some of his other aspirations and beyond being a “cat guy”, like yodeling and acting. He has a new aspiration in stepping into the podcast world, and is inspired by the trio Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin), and Oliver (Martin Short), to start his own podcast. Howard actively is inserting himself into the lives of the Arconia residents, especially the trio. He becomes more integral to the fabric of the building and solidifies himself as a fixture there.

Season four has many new star-studded additions which include Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, and Zach Galifianakis. Creighton enjoys the ensemble scenes and they are full of pinch me moments for him, because no matter who he’s looking at or what he’s watching, you get the best of the best. In one particular scene which included Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Molly Shannon, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, and more, Creighton described it as a “boisterous, exciting day.” The large cast’s energy is explosive, and everyone's so happy to be there and is on their A game. Creighton felt it was the best.

New this season, Howard has a menagerie of animals and is not just a “cat guy.” Creighton said he shared lots of time with the animal actors. He found working with the animal actors incredible and challenging. Creighton worked with a dog, a cat, a pig, another cat, another dog, and a bird! Creighton considers himself an animal person, and he has a dog named Sharon that he loves more than anything. Creighton emphasized that on set there were animal handlers who properly cared for the animals' needs and made sure they weren’t being overworked. Jokingly Creighton said they were doing the animals’ touch ups, as well. He said with the animals he takes time to meet them, and they then do their scenes together.

As for how Creighton approaches a new season of OMITB, he likes to play along with the mystery and the plot twists. He takes it script by script. Creighton said he is delighted and surprised when he reads the scripts and hopes that the viewers feel the same when watching.

Michael Cyril Creighton is not aware of the long term plans for any of the OMITB characters or the Arconia, but in his own mind he has a five season arc for Howard, a spin-off, and thinks that he’ll be working until the day he dies.
