Monster Summer, which opens in theaters today, follows Noah (Mason Thames) and his friends, Ben (Noah Cottrell), Eugene (Julian Lerner), and Sammy (Abby James Witherspoon), as their summer of 1997 is thrown into chaos when a mysterious evil force comes to town. Things go from bad to worse when Ben and his date Ellie (Lilah Pate), have a run in with an malevolent presence while swimming late at night. Wanting to follow in his recently deceased father’s footsteps as a journalist, Noah starts to investigate on his own, until he joins forces with retired detective Gene (Mel Gibson) to try to save his friend. Written by Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano, directed by David Henrie, and also starring Lorraine Bracco, Kevin James, Nora Zehetner, and Patrick Renna, Monster Summer is a great spooky adventure, out just in time for Halloween.
