This season of American Idol is a girl's to win, as the top five were all female. The latest contestant to be voted off was country singer Janelle Arthur. The singer recently talked to the media about her experience on Idol, as well as what her future holds.

She talked to SciFi Vision about how she felt being on a big stage for the first time on the show. "I was performing in front of big audiences, so it was actually really exciting. That’s when I felt more at home I think was when I was performing in front of the big audience."

The singer already has an idea what her album will look like. "I think my future album will definitely be more on the traditional side of country. I definitely think that there’s room for some more rootsy country music to come back into play. A lot of the females right now are doing more of the pop country thing."

Last week Lazaro Arbos was voted off of American Idol, leaving only female contestants.  The Florida native recently talked to the digital media about his time spent on the show, as well as what he has planned for the future.

The singer told SciFi Vision that the best part about being on the show was about who he got to meet. "I got to meet a lot of amazing people that I’ll have lifelong bonds with. I think that this show definitely gave me a stronger mindset."

He also talked about what his upcoming album will look like. "I love love songs a lot, but at the same time I like pop. I’d want to do a commercial pop album, but with some love songs as well."

Amanda Rosewater is the new mayor of the town in the new series Defiance, premiering tonight on Syfy. The part of Amanda is played by Julie Benz, who you may know from roles such as Darla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel or Rita in Dexter, or from any of her other many series such as Desperate Housewives or No Ordinary Family.

The actress recently sat down with the digital media to discuss her newest role and what fans can expect.

In October I, along with other journalists, were invited to Toronto, Canada for the Syfy Digital Press Tour, where Defiance was one of the series highlighted. Having never received a transcript, I finally decided to sit down and transcribe the full interview in anticipation for the premiere on Monday. Without further adeu...

As part of the Syfy Digital Press Tour, journalists were taken on a tour of the Defiance set.

After arriving in the Need/Want bar at the end of the tour, everyone sat down for presentations. First we heard from Gary Hutzel who gave a VFX presentation, and then we heard from David J. Peterson on the creation of three of the alien languages in Defiance, including Irathient, Castithan, and Indogene.

The main presentation was a Q&A panel with the cast of Defiance, including Grant Bowler, who plays Nolan, Stephanie Leonidas, who portrays the Irathient, Irisa, Julie Benz who plays Amanda Rosewater, Jaime Murray and Tony Curran, who play Castithans Stahma and Datak Tarr, respectively, and Graham Greene, who portrays Rafe McCawley. They were joined by the executive producer of the series, Kevin Murphy, and President of Original Content at Syfy, Mark Stern.

Last week Trion released the multi-platform massive multiplayer online video game Defiance. The highly-anticipated new television series premieres Monday on Syfy. The story will unfold on television and the game in this new cross-platform experience.

The epic series takes place in the 2046 on a transformed Earth, which has been altered after the arrival of seven alien races, collectively, the Votan. During the Pale Wars the humans and Votans defied orders, refusing to fight, and now try to coexist peacefully.

The story follows the characters of Nolan, played by Grant Bowler, and Irathient Irisa, played by Stephanie Leonidas, as they come to Defiance (previously St. Louis) and may eventually make a home there.

Though not blood, Irisa is considered a daughter to Nolan, and the two share a close bond.

Bowler and Leonidas recently talked to the digital media about Defiance and their experiences.

Last week America said good bye to Burnell Taylor. The 19 year old from New Orleans recently talked to the digital media about his departure from American Idol and his future.

Taylor told SciFi Vision about his favorite part of being on Idol and how it motivated him. "My favorite part of the season was the fact that it allowed me to grow. It really allowed me to lose the weight. There are things that I never would have done if I wasn't on the show. The show motivated me to do a lot of things, and I'm thankful and blessed that I was even in this position."

The singer also talked to the site about some of his challenges on Idol. "Well, of course, the themes are very challenging. I guess I have to say that, because some of the times we don't know all the songs. We always want to pick the best songs, so that could be a challenge. It's a good challenge, too. It's a good challenge."

Taylor also discussed what kind of album he plans to make. "[For] my album, I want to make captivating music, period...because there's only a few that you can play from the beginning to the end without any skips. I just want to be a storyteller and I want to be as personal as I can get. You know, just be honest, that's what the industry, I feel, is missing today. I want to create that link for other people to feel comfortable with..."

This Being Human season we've seen the vampires needed the werewolves to continue surviving from the virus that killed off so many of them. Josh and Nora's relationship headed down the aisle and Sally returned from the dead.

Guest star, Amy Aquino's character, Donna, plays the witch that brought back Sally from the dead. But after a second deal with Donna, Sally was left decomposing and having a taste for human flesh. Sally searches for Donna so she can rescind her promise of giving up her soul to Donna when she dies.

SciFi Vision had the chance to speak with Being Human's Meaghan Rath and guest star, Amy Aquino in a conference call about the impending showdown of Sally and Donna as well as the season three finale.

 Last night’s episode of The Americans was a big one for FBI agent Stan Beeman. The agency wanted payback for the Russian attack on the scientists, and Stan was adamant that he would not participate in an extrajudicial killing. But once his partner turned up his dead Stan didn’t just participate, he pulled the trigger.

Actor Noah Emmerich gave us some insight into his character’s state of mind.

“I think he sees it as a justifiable and promised retaliation for the murder on American soil of a federal agent,” he explained. “I think it would be more dangerous, from Stan’s point of view, to do nothing, to not retaliate, to therefore give the KGB a green light in saying you can indiscriminately execute American citizens on American soil.”

“I don’t think there’s any pleasure in it at all,” Emmerich continued. “I think it is revenge. I don’t think it’s personal, though, I think it’s political.

“It’s a Cold War, and he’s made it clear, he’s drawn a line that unless Amador is returned in health to his job there will repercussions, and if you don’t follow through with that threat then you lose all credibility in the future. So in some way I think that’s in fact what drives Stan to do that.”

Exclusive Interview with Nico Tortorella for The Following

The Fox drama The Following revolves around Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) and his devoted cult followers, as well as Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), who works with the FBI to try to catch Carroll, who has escaped from prison for the second time, and is now living in a house with his kidnapped ex-wife, Claire (Natalie Zea), and son (Kyle Catlett), as well as his followers, who are generally sociopaths and killers.

One of these followers is Jacob Wells, who up until recently had never killed anyone. Jacob was recently betrayed by Emma (Valorie Curry), who left him with a dying Paul (Adan Canto; the three were lovers). After Paul begged him, Jacob suffocated him. That action, as well as Emma's betrayal, has changed him.

The actor, who plays Jacob, Nico Tortorella, recently sat down in an exclusive interview with Jamie Ruby of SciFi Vision.

When he first read the script, Tortorella was thought to be too young for the role. "It was the first script I read for pilot season last year, and originally they thought that I was going to be too young for the role, but as my team does, they pushed hard, and I got in the room and was testing the next day, and chemistry reading with Paul the day after."
